We had the good fortune of connecting with Prajakta Patil and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Prajakta, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I see risk as a necessary step toward growth. It means choosing uncertainty over comfort to learn and create meaningful work. Rather than avoiding risk, it has often been the starting point for progress in my life and career. One of the most defining risks I took was changing the direction of my education and career. I completed my undergraduate degree in chemistry, a field rooted in structure and certainty, while knowing that I was deeply drawn to art, design, and creating work that solves real problems. At the time, I was studying in a place with little exposure to art and creative communities, which made pursuing a creative path feel distant and unrealistic. Rather than discouraging me, it clarified what I wanted to pursue. Choosing to follow that creative instinct meant stepping into uncertainty, but it ultimately led me to pursue an MA in Advertising at SCAD. Moving from a science-based background into a creative and strategic field wasn’t easy, but it taught me to trust my instincts and commit fully to what motivates me. That risk allowed me to blend analytical thinking with creativity, shaping how I approach ideas, strategy, and problem-solving today. Through this experience, I’ve learned that risk isn’t about being reckless it’s about choosing growth over comfort. Every risk I’ve taken has helped me build confidence, adaptability, and clarity. In many ways, my willingness to take risks is what brought me here and continues to guide where I want to go next.

Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally? Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way? What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My art lives at the intersection of design and strategy. Every piece I create is guided by intention as much as visual expression. I focus on how something looks and how it functions together, with attention to clarity, purpose, and the experience it creates. Design, for me, is a way to communicate ideas with meaning and direction.

What sets me apart is my ability to move fluidly between creative exploration and structured thinking. I don’t confine myself to one style, medium, or approach. I consistently push my boundaries, refine ideas, and look for ways to make work stronger and more effective. I believe growth comes from curiosity, iteration, and openness to new perspectives.

Getting to where I am today was not easy or linear. The journey involved learning through trial, growing through feedback, and improving through persistence. Whatever challenges came my way, I always found a way to overcome them. There were moments when ideas had to be reworked or directions changed, but those experiences shaped a more thoughtful and adaptable approach to my work. Over time, I learned how to balance creativity with clarity, and intuition with intention.
Along the way, I’ve learned that impactful work happens when design and strategy support each other equally. Strong visuals alone are not enough, and strategy without creativity lacks connection. The most meaningful work is created when both come together to solve problems and communicate clearly.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that my work is intentional, thoughtful, and constantly evolving. I design with purpose, always considering the larger context and the impact it can have. My goal is to create work that feels considered, communicates clearly, and leaves a lasting impression.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would start at the Georgia Aquarium, the largest aquarium in the U.S., because it immediately introduces the scale and energy of the city. Walking through the massive tanks surrounded by whale sharks, manta rays, and vibrant marine life feels immersive and unforgettable. I would make sure we attended the dolphin show, which brings together movement and interaction in a lively and memorable way. The aquarium’s AR and VR experiences add another layer, allowing visitors to explore ocean environments in a more interactive format and making the experience of marine life feel even more engaging.

From there, we would head to the World of Coca-Cola, which feels playful and distinctly Atlanta. Tasting beverages from around the world is always a fun way to experience the city’s global character.
To understand Atlanta’s everyday rhythm, I would spend time walking the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail. The BeltLine shows the city as it exists day to day, filled with murals, street conversations, food spots, and a strong sense of community. We would stop at Ponce City Market to explore and eat, then slow down with ice cream at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, which always feels like the perfect break in the day.

Art and design would be an essential part of the visit. I would take them to the High Museum of Art, a space that feels calm, thoughtful, and visually grounding. After that, we would visit the SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion. The exhibitions highlight how fashion and design connect with culture, encouraging visitors to see clothing beyond style and understand its connection to identity, history, and craftsmanship.

Food is a big part of how I experience the city, so I would make sure they explored Atlanta’s Indian food scene as well. A favorite spot is Tabla, where traditional Indian flavors are presented in a modern way while still feeling familiar and comforting.

For slower moments, I would take them to Inman Park for dinner at Delbar, followed by pastries from Little Tart Bakeshop and coffee at Chrome Yellow Trading Co. Sitting, talking, and observing the city during these quieter moments feels just as meaningful as visiting major attractions.

I would want my best friend to leave feeling like they experienced Atlanta, not just saw it. A city full of culture, food, art, and shared moments that make it easy to feel connected.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would dedicate my shoutout to my family. Their support has shown up in countless meaningful ways that shaped who I am today. They listened when I needed space to think, trusted my choices even when they were unfamiliar, and stood by me with steady belief. That trust gave me the confidence to take chances, grow, and move forward with excitement.

SCAD gave me the opportunity to pursue a path I had always felt drawn to. The environment made me feel inspired, seen, and excited about my future. Being surrounded by creativity, ideas, and ambition pushed me to explore more, learn faster, and turn long-held ideas into work I am proud of.

My professors and friends brought that journey to life. My professors motivated me to think bigger and push beyond my comfort zone, while my friends made the experience energizing and memorable. They supported my growth, celebrated progress, and helped create a sense of connection that made every step feel shared and meaningful.
