We had the good fortune of connecting with Onaji Rouse and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Onaji, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Honestly. If it’s something that is on your heart it’s not going to let you sleep. The purpose to you sharing the world with your gift. That’s God’s way of telling you that you have it in you to keep going. Even when you feel tapped out. It’s something that’s deep down in your spirit that just won’t allow you too give up. So trust me. Everyone get’s to that point but it’s a fire deep down inside of you that just won’t let you quit.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Sure! I am a comic book creator, screenwriter, and filmmaker. I currently have six published titles with Konkret Comics, ODINA issues 1 – 4 (5 and 6 will be dropping soon) Kandake, and Sista Circle-X. My second book, Kandake won a 2023 ecbacc Glyph award for best female character written is based off the legends of the African queens in the b.c. period but with sci-fi spins to it. And I am also produced a sci-fi action drama filmed titled Drafted: Origins that is a live adaptation of my book ODINA. It’s currently available for steaming on TUBI and Reveel. It’s a story that features an ensemble cast, it’s a hybrid show that makes you think of NBC’s Heroes meets Back Lightning. Even though I have so much more to do and learn. I don’t think I could’ve made it this far without my faith.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow that is a good question. There are so many places honestly. I love Castleberry hill and Edgewood for more of an cultural artistic vibe. But in Atlanta there are so many that you can’t just choose one place.
