We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikki R Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nikki R, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
To leave this world as an empty vessel when I”m done with my assignments here on earth. By the end of my career, I want to have poured out into the world all of the gifts and talents God created in me to share with others as a Filmmaker, Singer, Actor and Writer. I desire to be known and celebrated as an acclaimed entrepreneur and philanthropist who wasn’t afraid to speak up for what was right nor compromised to get ahead.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In telling you more about my art would be to explain exactly what my mission is. My mission is really a movement, which is to help heal thousands of hurting hearts globally who have been abused mentally, sexually and/or physically, by way of unique storytelling, inspirational music and mentoring. What do I mean by “unique storytelling”? My stories will be unique in a sense that they will all incorporate something someone can relate to while addressing social issues of the world today in a way that can be viewed by an entire family, young and old. With that being said, I am excited about putting into production my first film called “Change of Heart”, a compelling story about forgiveness, fatherhood and will bring awareness to child sexual abuse. This story was birthed out of what I grew up seeing, hearing and/or was a victim of. I was molested as a little girl by family members, but took a huge step and forgave them in 2017. I’m now able to talk about it and be a voice for others.
Additionally, I am excited that I will be performing original music in this movie as well, written by me and co-arranged along with Dileesa Archer, a top premier vocal coach here in Atlanta. I’m proud to say that the script has already won “People’s Choice Award” in a film festival and has secured an LOI with Amazon Prime with one of my Executive Producers, Adrienne E. Bell of KS Media & Publishing in association with Unreel Media Management along with additional distribution opportunities coming forth. It will have a phenomenal cast! And I’m most proud of taking this script and turning it into a novel and interactive study guide which is currently for sale online on Amazon and BarnesandNoble.com.
I wholeheartedly believe I got to where I am today professionally by my faith, prayer and just having a great work ethic. Was it easy? Not at all. I won’t even pretend to say it was or is. The key is to NEVER EVER give up no matter how challenging things may get. Boy, did I want to sometimes; however, being the strong woman of faith that I am, during those times, I would always be reminded of the Bible verse Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” The lessons I’ve learned along the way is to be bold; yet humble, always seek the wisdom of God before doing anything, do your research before attempting any major tasks and surround yourself with like-minded individuals, especially those who believe in you and your vision.
For those of you who don’t know me, you will find that I love to smile and make people do the same. Any product or service coming from a brand of Nikki R. Miller will always exude excellence and professionalism because that’s what I would want and/or be treated. I wear many labels which include being CEO of NRM Faith Based Films, LLC and of The Healing Hearts Foundation, Inc., my 501(c)(3) for which I’m currently organizing to mentor girls 12-13 years of age who has been sexually abused; however, at the end of the day, I’m just a humble, but feisty Southern girl who’s just trying to be a bright light in this world and make a difference in it where I can.
So, don’t sleep on your girl… be on the lookout for my phenomenal debut movie, “Change of Heart” coming to a TV screen and/or theater screen near you in the near future. However, in the meantime, you can go ahead and grab your copy of the “Change of Heart” novel from amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com to get a glimpse of what the movie will be like!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Okay, let’s see… if I had a bestie coming to visit, we would do breakfast at Another Broken Egg Café or Flying Biscuit Café, get pampered at my favorite hair salon, Look of Luxe Hair Salon with my girl Kahlila Wood, then get our nails and feet done at Pink Cactus Nail Boutique. Maybe do a little shopping at The Collection at Forsyth on one day and check out a few attractions on other days, namely the Georgia Aquarium which I love, the Original Selfie Museum, and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, Now… I have more favorite lunch and/or dinner spots that I would take her to than breakfast spots. They are Salt Factory Pub, Marlow’s Tavern, Ted’s Montana Grill, Hammerheads Seafood and Sports Grille, Food 2 Go and Gyu-kaku Japanese BBQ. And then last but not least, I must take her to one of the most hopping places in North Georgia and one that kept me grounded during the pandemic, my church, World Harvest Church of Roswell. We are always doing and having exciting things going on. It’s non-denominational and have over 60 or so nations that attend there. I stay busy there either singing or doing outreach because I love giving back and again, putting smiles on people’s faces. I’m sure my bestie would too.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give the first Shoutout to God because without Him, I am nothing and would not be who I am today if it wasn’t for Him. Then to the three kings in my life whom I love dearly, my husband Johnny Miller of 28 years, my oldest son Jamar Miller and youngest, Jarvis Miller. Without them, I probably would’ve given up a long time ago on pursuing my dreams. To my Mentors Denise Armstrong and Denise Owens for having me to stretch forth in my assignments even when I don’t feel like it and always encouraging me. To my production team: Kerry Patton, Chris Waymon, Andrew & Whitney Doyle, and Joseph Lanius, Esq. who is hard at work assisting me in bringing my dream to fruition which will be the first major imprint in making a difference in this world. To the rest of my family, friends, past and present church families (too many to name; however, played an important role in where I am today). Then last, but not least, Kay Williams of K. Williams Public Relations and Adrienne E. Bell of The Fearless Storytellers Movement and KS Media & Publishing for believing in my vision and providing opportunities for me to share my movement with the masses.
