We had the good fortune of connecting with Myke Robb and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Myke, how does your business help the community?
The one way my business is helping the community is by making history. “Industry Unleashed Talk Show” airs on the “1026 The Situation Network” which is based on Morris Brown College Campus. Our show, and the network we are a part of, lets the community know that it is never too late to create your own history especially black history. When my show goes live on air each Saturday, we do not only reach listeners locally, but internationally as well. Industry Unleashed content is geared to promote independent artist throughout the world of the entertainment industry, and we advocate for each listener to make a change in there’re communities by using their God given talents.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
A Philadelphia native with a hunger for success as an entertainer. I go by Myke Robb CEO & founder of MJR Enterprises Talent & Management, my business extensions are (Industry Unleashed, Legacy Runway Show, Event Host & Fashion Show Producer). A few decades ago, I started this journey as a very green independent male fashion model who just simply loved looking good in clothing but as time grew along, I could see the high potential in my craft as a talent and I could see my potential as a business owner in this industry as well.
Everything I am today is because I got my start as a model in this industry in a city that was tough as nails, a city that barley received any recognition in the fashion industry because New York was and still is the place to be, because some of my physical flaws use to shy me away and try to sit me down permanently but I’m hardheaded so I kept going. I walked in plenty of productions around that city and up and down the east coast I have met some amazing people & worked with a few celebrities along the way but I never “let my excitement, make my decisions” I stayed focused on the tasked at hand, I let my haters and doubters fuel me to keep going to become the man and build the brands that stand before you today.
When I decided to come to Atlanta in 2011, I had no clue what direction I would go with my career, I just wanted to learn the business in a brand-new city that was growing in the art that I love so much. Fast forward ten years later, I have done some amazing background work for (Vampire Diaries, Star, All Eyez On Me,) I have Co-produced “Pitch Black Fashion Show (week) benefiting domestic violence five years in a row, managed a hand full of aspiring models, became PR manager for “Bonheur Lifestyle Magazine”, created Legacy Runway Show “The future of Fashion” (coming soon) & currently going into its 3rd year “Industry Unleashed Talk Show ” just to name a few of my accomplishments.
From this point on I want the world to know that everything I do is to simply build & leave an amazing legacy behind for the next talent/businessowner in this industry. Entertaining people can be fun, but it is a lot of hard ass work, major sacrifices and comes with a high case of emotions involved. You have to have skin like a turtle shell to protect yourself and what you will create at all times. It is you against you period. There will F’it days and there will be days of celebration just the same, but no matter what come first you better stay “Real, raw & UNCUT” to your craft so you can continue to “Build a Legacy for the future of entertainment” like I am.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had some friends in town for a week, we’ll be all over the city and region of ATL. First, I have to take by the radio studio where history is being made on Morris Brown College Campus. Then we make plans to visit High Museum of Arts, Atlantic Station for movies, bars shops and more. Towards the weekend let’s swing over to EAV (East Atlanta Village), hike Stone Mountain Park. For the weekend let’s start off eating heathy for breakfast at Rose’s Cafe or Atlanta Breakfast Club for lunch let’s do Slutty Vegan or for that home away from home cheesesteak Big Daves. To get our party on to where it should be MJQ’S or Club Boltz and let’s pray on Sunday and let’s go tubing down the river.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this story first off to GOD, without him my talents would not exist, my mother, brothers & immediate family they are the ones that support my crafts through the struggles and all and finally to some of my friends & to all my entertainment industry family because we all get each other. We’re all on the same train to success but our stops to get off have different paths.
