We had the good fortune of connecting with Mya Joiner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mya, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?

“I’m originally from Tifton, Georgia, a small town in south Georgia where food and family are deeply rooted in my upbringing. Growing up, I was surrounded by the love and care that my mother and grandmother put into every meal they prepared. Watching them cook with passion and dedication instilled in me a natural love for food. Every homemade meal and from-scratch baked cake was more than just sustenance – it was a labor of love. While my passion for food was nurtured from a young age, it wasn’t until my adult years that I realized my dream of turning that passion into a business. Now, as a caterer, I strive to bring that same love and care into every dish I create, sharing the warmth and hospitality of my southern roots with every client and guest.”

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

As a caterer, my art is about creating memorable experiences through food. What sets me apart is my passion for bringing people together with delicious, homemade dishes that are infused with love and care. I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built with my clients and the joy I bring to their special occasions. Whether it’s a wedding, graduation or family gathering, I strive to make every event unforgettable.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. I’ve faced challenges like any entrepreneur, from managing logistics to dealing with setbacks. But I’ve learned to overcome them by staying focused, being adaptable, and putting my customers first. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the value of hard work and perseverance. Building a business takes time, effort, and dedication, but it’s worth it when you see the impact you have on people’s lives.

What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that it’s not just about the food – it’s about the love, care, and attention to detail that goes into every dish. I’m committed to delivering exceptional service and creating unforgettable experiences for my clients. My goal is to make every event feel like a family gathering, where guests feel welcomed, loved, and nourished. That’s what my brand is all about – sharing the warmth and hospitality of the South with every bite.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

If my best friend was visiting the area, I’d plan a 7-day itinerary that showcases the best of Atlanta’s food, culture, and attractions. We’d start with brunch at a classic Southern spot possibly Mary Mac’s , followed by visits to local farmers markets, museums, and the Georgia Aquarium. We’d also relax at a spa, explore the city’s vibrant neighborhoods, and enjoy live music and good food. My goal would be to give my friend a taste of the city’s unique flavor and hospitality, and create unforgettable memories along the way.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

“I’d love to give a shoutout to my mother and grandmother, who not only taught me the love of cooking but also instilled in me the values of hard work, dedication, and family. Their influence in my life has been immeasurable, and I’m grateful for the lessons they taught me in the kitchen and beyond. They’re the reason I’m where I am today, and I couldn’t have done it without their love, support, and encouragement. I’d also like to shoutout to my community in Tifton, Georgia, and now Conyers, Georgia, where I’ve had the opportunity to share my food and hospitality with so many wonderful people. Their enthusiasm and support have meant the world to me, and I’m thankful to be able to do what I love in the places that feel like home.”
