Meet Mphatso Khuzwayo

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mphatso Khuzwayo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mphatso, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My friends alerted me that I have created a product that solves a major problem, but is unfortunately not addressed enough. That is, vaginal health. From bacterial vaginosis to yeast infections to vaginal dryness.. these issues plague women on a day to day basis. Launching Yoni pHotion was an easy decision because I knew I would be helping so many women in a safe and tasty way.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been a nurse for 7 years. I have practise in multiple specialties such as, medical surgical, cardiac, trauma, post op, and now emergency medicine. I meet people at some of their worst moments in their life or when they are the most vulnerable, I tap into my God given gift of nurturing, encouragement, and healing to help them get through their experience. Becoming a nurse “was no crystal stair.” I fail several times, but I was determined that this is what God wanted me to do, but it was up to me to go after it. I had to learn what makes a good nurse from a bad nurse. I ran toward the most difficult patients and complicated cases to help me become a strong nurse. I learned that I can do hard things and that being scared is not a bad thing, but an opportunity to discover myself. I want the world to know that an ounce of prevention is far more effective than a pound of cure. By the time my patients get to me, it’s sometimes too late (either their heart has stopped or the blood vessel in their brain has ruptured or their unborn child is not viable). Had I met them a few moments earlier, it could have changed the trajectory of their outcome, which is why I am so passionate about Yoni pHotion. It give women an option to prevent any issues from happening and is safe for their overall body without any side effects. I am woman before I am anything else and women need to know they have options and that they do not have to suffer in silence.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Phew, ok lol, it would be a mix of ratchet lit and classy calm with some active activity as well. We definitely would go to the Spaceman in the Hyatt Hotel, then to painted Painted Duck, swing by Fin and Feathers in Midtown, go to Xperience, and of course cannot forget Rum Punch Brunch. And in between outings would go to the gym and go for a nice jog on the Beltline.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom, Nondumiso Johnson. After many years of doctor visits, medications, and complications from medications my mom offered me a drink that helped relieve most of my symptoms. That drink is known as Yoni pHotion. She helped me perfect the formula and has been my biggest supporter from day one!
