We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgan Powell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Morgan, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Growing up I stayed away from risk. I was always afraid of something bad would happen and/or end up in a bad situation. Probably around 25, I saw myself already having “regrets’ or having those Should of could of would of thoughts. So stepping into being an entrepreneur, I started off slower because I was still trying to avoid taking risk. Avoiding risks comes from a place of fear and I do not want my lack of risk taking to hinder the growth of my business. I have to take risk to better myself and my company. Taking risks have opened my mind to new perspectives. Now taking risks are a necessity.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Morgan’s Mini Cheesecakery is a mobile cheesecake specialty shop in the metro Atlanta area. We offer delicious, homemade mini cheesecakes for events, parties etc. Each mini cheesecake is the size of a standard cupcake which is perfect because it is not big nor too small, not too dense but just enough to take care of that sweet craving! They are delicious! I think the hardest part about doing this is being a one woman show, wearing all the hats. I am the owner, the baker, the content creator, the accountant, the list goes on! So what I have learned about this business is the importance of having a team. it is so essential to utilize the resources you have right in front of you and if you don’t have one go out, network and get it, you need it! I have tried to do it all and it is simply the hardest thing to do! I am super proud of the growth of the business and the plans I have for the future! I never thought I would be a business owner and stepping into this role has unveiled the greatness that I possess. If I can do it you can do it! People should know and experience the power of faith and belief! It is a powerful thing! What you want, you can have! Believe, Work hard, do not stop and watch greatness unfold!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
How much time do we have? lol We have to go downtown, go to Civil rights museum, Aquarium, Coca Cola factory, Centennial park. Get the touristy things out the way. Piedmont Park, Beltline, and Stone Mountain to get some exercise in and take in some nature. I can’t even name a specific restaurant off the top of my head but I would pick a location/area whether it’s on the northside, eastside, westside or southside and pick a few from there. It’s soo many great restaurants here! Ponce City Market, Krog Street, Edgewood, the Avalon, Atlantic Station. Nightlife for me is a bit non existent so I don’t know what’s really poppin right now but it would be most likely be a lounge. Can’t forget about Sunday Brunch, it is a whole vibe! I currently can’t wait to try out Breakfast at Barneys, Toast on Lenox & The Goodz Atl.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My support system deserves so much more credit than i can give them. My family and closest friends have been so supportive in all aspects, physically, mentally, financially. I use to thing that being self made was the wave but having a bomb team is the real flex! My team is the best! I am truly blessed!
