We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Kelleher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mike, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I never considered myself and entrepreneur, nor did the thought of opening my own business even cross my mind until about 3 years ago. I had always worked under the umbrella of a large medical practice, med spa..etc.. Be that as it may, I worked very independently, and when I left a large practice at the end of 2018, I felt somewhat lost. What should I do? I’m screwed. I took some time off, resumed my independent contracting, training, consulting, and decided, you know what, I can do this, I want to do this, and I need this. I knew in my heart, the only way I could fully satisfy my professional, personal goals, and happiness was to follow my own path. I had the credentials, professional respect to move forward, and I knew that I could offer a new, different experience in the medical injectable space that is not available.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In August of 2019 I decided to go out on my own as a Physician Assistant/Cosmetic Injector. At this time I was leasing a small room out at a local spa and really just trying to survive and rebuild my practice. Over this time I began to realize what it was that I needed to do, and it all became very clear to me. I had an epiphany, and a very clear idea of what I was going to do, not only as a practice, but my brand and once that clarity hit, it all developed quite rapidly. The flood gates were opened, as it were. I sat down at the computer and the (R)Evolution logo and brand concept came to me in a matter of minutes, then I found an amazing location and began to build out my practice, and not only Decatur, GA, but Atlanta, GA first advanced cosmetic injectable practice. It was hard as hell, and still is difficult, time consuming. This business is just me, I see all the patients, I book all the appointments, you name it I do it, and I like it this way for now. I want my patients to feel cared for and special, they deserve that, none of them are a number to me.
(R)Evolution is the antithesis of almost every other medical spa/injectable spa I have ever been apart of of been inside of. I designed this practice to be very accessible to all patients, not stuffy, relaxed, easy, clean concept, with a multi use as a academic training facility. I am here to provide the most innovative, up to date, academically sound, nonsurgical cosmetic results possible, with superior outcomes. That being said, I wanted an atmosphere that reflects me, easy, accessible, inclusive, with a little bit of that hard rock music edge.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
visiting atlanta for a week. lots of places to eat and drink, surely some of my favorites Kimball House, Decatur GA..best oysters and absinthe cocktails in Atlanta, bar none!!
gotta walk the Belt Line and stop any of the multiple bars and eateries along the way
and if there is a show at the Tabernacle, get after it, best venue in the area
Video games, comic books, food, drink….My Parents Basement
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My patients deserve all the recognition in my story. Without them where would I be. I have patients that have followed my for nearly 10 years, though multiple practices, and they are the reason why I am successful today
