We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle B. Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to create a platform of something fresh to add to the online fashion marketplace. Not recreate the wheel, but add an option for minimalist trendy fashion…nothing flashy! We see enough of that. I feel like I’m in my prime years (40’s club) and it’s remarkable to see more women like myself making health and fitness a priority. So giving them fashion that will sustain year after year is priority.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I curated Mod Instinct with the intention on providing quality products and service. For instance, I admire Chick-fila service. It doesn’t matter which location you go to, the service is always great. I want that reputation…It matters! Our customers are the driving force behind Mod Instinct. In the midst of never-ending trends, I wanted to create an online shopping platform for women who love minimalist styles like myself. The signature aesthetic is minimalism, monochromatic tones that make a powerful badass statement.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There’s no doubt that Atlanta has some amazing attractions. My favorites go-to spots are Ms. Iceys located in Decatur, GA. Their weekend brunches are a real treat. Also a fav is the High Museum cultural exhibits in combination with great tasting wine and music. Despite living in Atlanta for 17 years, there is always somewhere in town to have incredible fun.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m inspired by my talented husband and my sons. The support and love my kings show me is beautiful. I am so blessed to have a supporting family. Our saying is ‘you got this’ no matter what. Related to career, well working in retail and the tv/movie industry as a buyer has definitely perfected my craft in fashion and business. It’s like I developed a keen eye for quality fashion.
