We had the good fortune of connecting with Michele Wise and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michele, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was turning 57 and an empty nester, I realized I wanted to do something but couldn’t figure out what to do! Iv always loved baking and gardening so I decided I would merge the two and blossoms by Michele was born!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Starting a business at 57 was no small feat! I was a stay at home mom for my entire life but now it was my time to do something for me. I started blossoms by Michele and had no clue how cathartic it would be for me. It’s almost meditative. I love the happiness and joy people have when they see them! All my cupcakes are made with the freshest high quality ingredients, they are made to order so people can send me a photo of the colors they want even the flowers they love! What could be better than creating edible art?! My biggest problem was imposter syndrome! With the help of my family and friends I jumped in and believed!!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in LA so there is much to see! The food scene is amazing! I would definitely do a food truck tour! Some of the best Mexican food you will eat are in the trucks parked along the sides of the roads! Then a trip to Malibu would definitely be in order. La has some of the most beautiful coastlines. Of coarse there are the must see Disneyland and universal, but you definitely need a stop at in and out burger and you need a local to order off the secret menu! Sushi row in studio city has it all! Teri sushi, katsuya, sugar fish it’s all there! The last place and my most favorite is the hollywood bowl! It’s the most special outdoor venu to see live music! A real treat!!
