Meet Michael Huguenin | Podcaster

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Huguenin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk taking is something that you automatically are hesitant at. It’s natural. But when you don’t take it the guarantee is that you won’t know the outcome at all. Betting on myself was something I’m so happy that I did. I’ve been podcasting since December 2016 and always had a co-host so I never did a solo episode. So I took that leap of faith of doing my solo podcast in May of 2025 ‘I’m Not Repeating Myself’ and now I’m 17 episodes in.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Since I was a kid I always had a passion for discussing/debating music and sports. So when 2016 rolled around I started a podcast called ‘we’re just the messengers’ with my boy Moe. We recorded over 300 episodes. 313 to be exact. Def not easy. Life be lifing but when you love what you love you keep pushing. But also what you love can break you down too. And I hit that wall February 2025. Questioned should I be doing this? Is it really for me? And didn’t record for 3 months. I would walk by my podcast room on Sundays and just be like “ehhh don’t feel like it” but one day in May I was sitting in my room thinking well if I’m not going to be doing this what else will I be doing? And I got nothing. Ultimately this what I love. So I brainstormed ideas to launch my solo podcast ‘I’m Not Repeating Myself’ and decided to bet on myself. I launched my first episode May 12th. The road is never easy. But your love will always outweigh the “no’s” and hurdles. If you love what you love. I just want people to know I’m here to be the best solo podcaster ever. I’m authentic and genuine with my delivery and optic wise I’m bringing a unique look. Most solo podcasters usually show torso up. I’m into sneakers and clothing so I said I’m going to show my whole outfit. It’s part of the presentation and it will set me part. ‘I’m Not Repeating Myself’ is bringing a different look to the podcast world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well in Charleston. It’s best known for its food and beaches. So isle of palms or folly beach would def be a go to. As far restaurants. Peninsula Grille for American food. Burwells Stone Fire Grill for steakhouse, Pelato for Italian, and The Establishment for seafood. It’s many more but those are some standouts. Tourism for downtown Charleston is a major thing as well. King street downtown as night life as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout my video editor Stanley Green. This guy has been with me since the beginning. Highs and lows he never switched up on me. Never gave up on me and always believed in my vision. Words can’t describe how much he means to me. So salute to my guy Stan. He’s and great music video director as well.
