We had the good fortune of connecting with Mia Nicole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mia, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose a creative career because I feel that creating is something that comes “naturally” to me. I often find myself overwhelmed with a variety of ideas. I see from so many different perspectives on the world around us. I’m “I can relate” if it were a person, HAHA! It scares me sometimes honestly. LOL. Every individual person and thing has its own perspective, and everything is connected. Art is a way of expressing myself and connecting to people. Art is my language and the eyes through which I see the world around me. Whenever I finish a project, it’s like a breath of fresh air. It’s a form of release. Being able to turn a vision/idea into reality is exhilarating! The thing I love about creating is that even though it comes naturally, it isn’t always easy. The most important thing that art and creating has taught me is patience with myself and others. There are so many lessons and perspectives that art has to offer in life. I’m ready for more!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is me. It expresses who I am as an individual. Through my art I’m able to share the beauty in life. I can share my perspective of the world. I can connect with people and help them connect with each other. I’m most proud of stepping up for me when others wouldn’t. I’ve always told myself, “What one person won’t do for you, do it yourself.” You’d surprise yourself at what you can accomplish on your own. I’m proud of my persistence and growth. I’m excited about opportunities and new resources. I’m excited to travel, to explore, and to create more. I got to where I am today by pushing myself out of my comfort zone and making lots of to do lists. LOL. I had to become my own manager. It definitely wasn’t easy. I’m still learning every day. I’m opening myself up to new ways of doing things. There was a point where I had no idea how to network. I reached out to a career advisor at school for help. I learned so much, but it’s definitely something you have to push yourself to do if you’re like me. I overcome challenges by breathing and taking time to accept what I’m feeling. You have to learn to be patient with yourself. I remind myself that storms never last. Right now, in this moment, we have a survived everything we have been through. One lesson I learned is that it takes long-term commitment to bring your vision to life. That means putting in work on good and bad days. It’s a mindset. I want the world to know that my story has just begun.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend visited the area, I’d definitely create the “Ultimate Get-Away” itinerary. The options are a bit limited in Valdosta but I’d make sure the trip was well worth it for her. So, Monday, we’d sit pool side with music for some fresh air and vibes. Later, we would head to Mulligans at the Remerton Bars for wings and drinks. Tuesday is when the real fun starts. We’d go to Recoil Trampoline earlier in the day. Later that day, we’d meet up with more of my friends for a game night and have Taco Tuesday! Games nights are always lit. That would be a night to remember being that my friends are hilarious when they’ve had a few drinks. Wednesday we’d get lunch from Big Nicks. I’d get the vegetable platter for sure because it’s my favorite. I’d also treat her to frozen yogurt at The Mix. If you ever decide to try it, get half blueberry, half mango frozen yogurt. You won’t regret it. Thursday we’d grab food from Mr. Bobbyque Rib Shack and head to the front lawn at Valdosta State for a picnic. We’d take a ride to Madison Blue Springs State Park later that afternoon. I would recommend anybody to visit this park. The water is so pretty and the scenery itself is just unreal. Jumping from the rocks into the water was for sure a fun and thrilling experience the first time I went. On Friday, Wild Adventures Theme Park would be the move! We’d get on every ride there and eat dipping dots. Saturday, I would plan a paint and sip. We’d paint, laugh at memories, and talk about our future plans. I’d get a variety of wine for us to taste. We’d probably chill out to some Destiny’s Child throwbacks, then turn up the mood to City Girls before we go to Vibez Lounge & Nightclub for drinks. Of course, Sunday, we’d cook brunch and recovery from the long week of fun. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
