We had the good fortune of connecting with Melinda Miné and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melinda, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Honestly it was birthed from (what some might call) my biggest failure. You see my first attempt at being self employed as a licensed esthetician ended after only 1 year. Flash forward 20 years later i realized that if only I had access to resources such as funding, coaching, financial, marketing and business knowledge my doors might still be open today. The truth is 80% of small businesses fail within 18 months. I made it my mission to help as many independent spa professionals be the 20% exception by offering access to all the resources I wish I had in a time and budget conscious fashion. Hence, in 2018, the Spa Profit was born

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
To be honest my mental breakdown was my business breakthrough. It took a panic attack and a horrible car accident plus a complete mental breakdown to get on a path of healing.

During this timeI realized that I wasn’t living a life that was in alignment with my values.

Something had to change.

I quit my job and began therapy. This ultimately led me to follow my North Star which resulted in me giving myself permission to walk in my purpose.

Life doesn’t happen to you, it happens FOR you.

We grow through what we go through for sure.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love to cook. My secret ingredient in all of my dishes is love. So as for where I’d go to eat, probably no where 😆 My partner makes amazing cocktails so we would probably enjoy much of our meals/drinks at home.

When I do go out a few of my favorite spots would be Capers in Kennesaw, C & S oyster bar or Rumi Kitchen

I LOVE the outdoors and visiting our lovely state parks so that would definitely be on the itinerary.

For a fun activity it would be beat the bomb or whole world for some improve comedy

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The Spa Profit is sort of my love letter to the industry that I adore. I’ve had countless mentors over the years that have been pivotal along my journey. However, becoming an esthetician was the catalyst that opened my world up to so many wonderful experiences and strong female leaders. It’s sort of like a sisterhood that I’m so thankful to be a part of.
