We had the good fortune of connecting with Max Wavee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Max, how do you think about risk?
I see risk as betting on myself. In my upcoming album Love and War it is a reflection of that—taking the risk to show both sides of who I am, vulnerability and aggression. Blending those worlds creatively pushed my growth and defines where my career is headed.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is about honesty—turning real life into music people can feel. What sets me apart is my willingness to show both sides of my experiences: love, pain, struggle, and celebration. That’s the heart of my upcoming project, Love and War, a follow-up to Popular Loner. While Popular Loner focused on reflection and storytelling, Love and War blends vulnerability with raw energy, giving listeners a fuller picture of who I am.

My journey hasn’t been easy, but every setback taught me to trust my vision, take risks, and stay authentic. My music—and my brand—is about being real, showing all sides of life, and connecting with people through honesty. Love and War is the next chapter of that story, and I can’t wait for people to experience it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was in town for a week, I’d make sure it was unforgettable. We’d start with some classic spots for good vibes and great food—thinking brunch at a cool local spot, maybe something with a view, then hitting some of the city’s hidden gems for lunch or snacks. Nights would be about energy: live music, rooftop bars, maybe a club where you can really feel the city’s pulse.

I’d mix in some cultural stops too—art exhibits, street murals, anything that captures the city’s flavor. And of course, we’d make time for low-key hangouts: chilling at a park, late-night drives, or grabbing some of the best coffee and just people-watching. For me, the best experiences are about good food, great music, interesting people, and moments you’ll remember long after the trip is over.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I want to shout out my late brother, William —his spirit and influence keep me motivated and inspired every day. I also thank my family for always believing in me, the friends and creatives who push me in the studio, and the artists whose stories inspired me growing up. Every part of my journey is shaped by the people who’ve supported and believed in me.
