We had the good fortune of connecting with Marisol Escobar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marisol, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is mandatory. If you want to get the most out of life you need to take risks. There is no way around it. There is no success without risks and even if you don’t get the outcome you were initially looking for, you will still get something in return; whether that’s the experience in itself, a lesson or a blessing.
One of the greatest risks I ever took was leaving home. I left my hometown San Francisco (Frisco), California in 2018 and moved to New York. I had no family or friends in New York, and I didn’t have a plan. I risked my safety, a home, financial security, relationships. It’s now been six years since I left SF and I can say it was the best decision I ever made. I’ve gained so much from taking that risk, including newfound interests and passions like health, art, and running. I have learned to merge art and health together and I have completed five marathons in a span of 9 months. I truly believe I would not be creating and running marathons had I not moved away from home and experienced life in different environments.
Because I’ve had so much success from the risk’s I’ve taken, my perspective on risk taking has evolved, I see risk taking as an opportunity to a greater life. I plan to continue takings risks while enjoying the journey.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am ever evolving so my work changes as I change and grow, however, my focus is always around health. As I learn and pick up new health practices, I implement them in my life and if they work I share it with the world. I currently created a 7- Day Detox that I am super excited about. My clients have seen great results. Not only have they lost waste, they’ve also seen improvement in their mental health.
Trial and error got me to where I am today. I’ve done it all and I am not afraid to start over. I’ve started a few business that ultimately failed, but I am grateful for those experiences because I learned what works and what doesn’t.
It has not been easy, but it also hasn’t been hard. I like a challenge, so I look for the positive in everything.
I want the world to know that I am still learning. I am forever a student. I will continue to learn and strive to always be better than yesterday.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whether my friend likes it or not we will start everyday with a morning run or a Solidcore class. On one of the days, we will go for a run on the Beltline. After the run, we would stop at Playa Bowls for a post-run fruit bowl. I will also take my friend to Your Dekalb Farmers Market so we can stock up on all the seeded fruit and go back home to juice them. The most exciting thing to check out is Hills4ATL. It’s the best community. Everyone is so nice and encouraging.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh my god I love this. I would like to dedicate my shoutout to every single person who has ever supported me and showed me love. I couldn’t just pick one person, there’s so many people who have inspired me and motivated me to keep going. An d of course God because I would not be here with out him.
