We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcus Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marcus, how do you think about risk?
I think risk taking is a scary, fun, rewarding adventure.

Taking risks can be both daunting and exhilarating, but it has taught me to confront challenges with unwavering faith, trusting that the outcomes will ultimately favor me in my life and career.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have a deep passion for acting because it enables me to authentically depict the private moments and emotions of various characters.

I take pride in my perseverance within this industry, and now, I’m beginning to witness the realization of my career dreams and visions.

Although it was challenging, I was determined never to let go of the belief that my dream of becoming a great actor would eventually come to fruition; that belief fueled my journey.

The lessons I’ve learned are to always be yourself, continuously seek knowledge, and have unwavering self-belief.

I want people to understand that I’m not inherently special, except in the eyes of God. I say this to emphasize that if I can achieve my goals and continue to aim higher, anyone can do the same. My story is distinctive and unique. I didn’t come from a family of actors or creatives. Just like one of my favorite actors, Denzel Washington, my father is a pastor, and many assumed I would follow that path. However, my true calling is to touch hearts and souls through a different medium, the pulpit of film.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Michigan, particularly Detroit, offers a variety of interesting places to visit. Some of the best places in Detroit and its surrounding areas include, Detroit Institute of Arts, Motown Museum, Belle Isle Park, Detroit Riverwalk, Greektown, Eastern Market and The Belt

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to express my gratitude to my family for their unwavering support, my manager and team members Bennie, Peter, and Linda for believing in me, and last but not least, I’m thankful to God for the gift of life and opportunities.
