We had the good fortune of connecting with Malcolm Sharkey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Malcolm, how do you think about risk?
When I think about taking a risk. I also think of the ways that it can benefit not only myself but allow me the ability to also inspire or offer any opportunity to someone else. When I take a risk wether it’s big or small and determines wether it will have a negative outcome and risk what I’ve been working so hard to achieve. The risks I have taken in my life have not benefited me but my family and creatives in the industry. They have helped me pursue knowledge to not repeat the same mistakes that set me back. They have made me more vigilant to the things I need to do in life and how to get there without risking it all.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a paid model , actor, professional tattoo artist, writer and entrepreneur. I focus on building towards the skills I love with a passion. As a creative artist I focus on new ways to express things through art that inspires people. As a model and actor things I have accomplished in the past 2 years. What makes me different from others is I’m not in the industry to charge a arm and a leg. I love what I do and I love being able to help another aspiring creative artists through my connections and hard work. I don’t seek nothing in return but for them to achieve greatness. I’m most proud of accomplishing a lot of my first big goals of getting on my favorite tv series and to being published in a magazine and more. I have excelled in all the things I set out to be good at in life. I’ve faced many challenges being a good person to others and enduring severe consequences for the choices they made that jeopardized my freedom of choice. I want the world to know is your priority should always be to be the best person that you can become while focusing strictly on your responsibilities. Wether it’s your kids , family or dreams. Be consistent and accomplish those goals and greatness will find you along the way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The way I would start the week is with introducing my best friend to some of my favorite spots to go, here in the beautiful city of Chicago, it’s so much to do and so many beautiful places and people to meet. I love fashion and clothes and style and before we started the week. I would take my best friend to get clothes from some of the finest clothing brands / fashion designers I know. The clothing brands I would take my best friend to purchase would be Niczka (@niczka.co), no secrets apparel (@nosecretsapparel), Omari closet designs (@omariclosetdesigns), there designs are so unique and fits every occasion for business and partying comfortable. These are must go to places to look up to purchase wardrobe. After we have found clothes , it’s a few hot nightclubs that we would attend because one of the hottest party host @ericbosschocago hosts at Fame nightclub , Electric hotel among a few other incredible places for a great time. We all know Chicago is known for it’s night life and creative industry. I love bars such as Continental lounge which is a very fun and social bar. I would give my best friend the full experience of some of the most fun bars here. As well as enjoying the fine foods of the city such as Portillo, my favorite restaurant which is known as The Loyalist which is French with incredible scenery and food. I would also take my best friend to one of my photoshoots to get the experience of the environment as a model and see what we do during shoots.
Monday and Tuesday would be relaxing and shopping with the above clothing brands.
Wednesday and Thursday would be partying at Fame nightclub and Electric hotel.
Thursday we would visit my favorite French place the loyalist.
Friday we would visit the bar replay which is very popular for its themed pop ups such as Harry Potter.
Saturday we would visit continental lounge which is a rock bar but very social and amazing people who come to play pool and have fun.
Sunday is the day we would really sight see and do some of the fun things we love to do such as skating , bowling and more.
Just being spontaneous to allow fun things to happen and create memories without forcing them.
Fashion shows and creative , networking events are some of the best things to experience and meet amazing people. You can never get bored in chicagos creative world and night life.
Everyone should also check out the incredible platform for creatives called Trendsapio. It allows creatives such as djs, models, photographers and more to showcase there work and possibly help elevate there career as a creative. You can check out the website at www.trendsapio.com and sign up.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If I have to give credit where it is due. I would give credit first to my family. They have been the sole reason of my hard work and consistency to make it. So , now today more than ever losing so many loved ones even though they are not here I plan to keep my promise and make it as a successful model, actor, tattoo artist and so much more. The friends and non genuine friends I have met over the years that opened my eyes to the true nature of people. My experiences in life has helped me grow in many ways unimaginable.
