We had the good fortune of connecting with Lyric` B and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lyric`, what do you attribute your success to?
My authenticity, at an early age my mother explained to me,” your gift will get you in high places in the world, it is your attitude that will keep you there or take you out, you decide!” Those words have stuck with me always, to this day even. So, I look at the trajectory of my career in its highs & cruise control eras & can attest that my genuine dedication to the craft & my humbleness, despite the position I hold is what’s responsible for my constant elevation in this business. I show up & I give my all, & I never compete even in the presence of my enemies & those I know pray on my downfall & demise. I believe that little light of mine, I’ve held onto since my adolescent years in show business is what’s sustained me thus far. That is what is continuing to open doors for me Shelly. My fans will buy out tickets to an event I’m simply a featured performer at, just to show love & experience my live performance. Because they love hard & they know I do the same. Yea, I never let this popularity & money change who I am. I’m still just Lyric` at the end of the day, you feel me?

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I haven’t lost my soul, yea, that is one of many things that sets me apart from others in this space. It’s very easy to lose yourself in the life & the lifestyle of entertainment. With the stage comes lights & cameras, with that comes attention & if you’re good comes revenue & more popularity. I see a lot of people take all of that money & attention straight to their head – becoming someone almost unrecognizable. I understand that I’ve been blessed enough to be in but not of this business if that makes sense. I go out, I do my job thoroughly & go home to my regular life. I’ve never lost sight of the vision which is to use my platform to pour back into my people, create generational wealth amongst those I love & pour back into the community & nation of supporters who helped me fulfil my dreams. & honestly if you ask any artist in the beginning that’s the initial goal, not too many will say the same after doing this for a while, yea it’s like being in a twilight zone at times, this industry that is. Keeping your values, your focus, your spirit will take you a long way. So, I stay diligent, consistent & I’ve never lost my soul. That’s a major key in why I stand out so much in different rooms & settings.

I am most proud of the reputation I’ve built, where no one is perfect, I always strive to treat others as I wish to be treated. So, when time passes & I reconnect with a former associate in business or someone I know from radio or let’s say they’ve watched me perform or interview talent – I love that people always have something positive to say about their last memory or encounter with me. Truthfully, I must say it hits different when someone you don’t know comes up to you or direct messages you online expressing how your drive, performance or persona as they know inspires them in some way or another. It’s even more humbling to set out & merely have a dream you want the world to gravitate toward & they do. Sounds weird but, yea man, that has to be what I’m most proud of. That I’m my authentic self & in music & song I’m my most vulnerable & people rock with that. That means none of this is in vain. & as an artist no matter how successful or not you always ask yourself that question. It is in those moments where the question is easily answered. Touching a life or leaving an impact just hits different I guess, I don’t know.

Professionally as cliche as this may sound, I could not have accomplished any of the many things I have without the help of God. My spirituality, my faith truly is the core of who I am. I make no moves or sudden decisions without seeking higher conscience counsel, meditation or assurance within my spirit. So, with me, nothing is fake or forced. Any artist I’ve ever performed alongside, shared the same bill with or filmed with was divinely orchestrated. Every artist I’ve opened up for or toured with was because, “my gift made room for me” as the good book says. I’ve never had to sale a gimmick, I’ll send up a good prayer, expect the best & walk into my blessings.

I’d never lie to you & say my journey has been easy, there have been a number of times where I’ve been so exasperated from the behind the scenes added pressures on top of the extra pressures that immediately come with the job of being a recording artist & traveling entertainer. Because I stress & promote the importance of mental health maintenance on my talk show web series-community “The RT Talk Show, I’m a firm believer in taking a break. That is how I overcome the challenges that present themselves in the day-to-day hustle & bustle of it all. You see your body is always speaking to you so, when I’m feeling too much on me than I can bear, I get in a quiet state to myself & I relax. I’ll contact my booking agent & clear my schedule for 2-3 days completely. In my first self-help book, “Lyric’s Lessons – available this winter – I speak on mindful meditative showers, where you think of all of the things that have you anxious or overwhelmed & you visualize yourself washing it away going down the drain as you physically lather & rinse your body. These practices help me to keep going in pursuit of my dreams daily because, I mean let’s face it, we can’t just give up, right? We’re all here for a reason so when it becomes too much or you can’t think or see things clearly, take a break. Best piece of advice I can give to anyone.

Gosh, I’ve gathered many wisdoms along the way, by far the most important that I’ve learned & still am applying is to not be afraid of what you possess inside. To use that superpower when necessary & fear not the gifts you have inside. As a singer, our voices are connected to our nerves & hormones. A skilled singer knows how to control & play with their tone & pitch with inflections or still notes. But have you ever noticed someone performing who is visibly shaken from stage fright & you can hear the shakiness in their voice? That is someone who hasn’t overcome the fear within of what they carry. Now take that same person, put them in a recording booth, dim the lights and allow them to sing the same song. Chances are if they were any good to begin with, they’ll do exceptionally well in the recording studio. This is why we have some recording artist & some all-around performing artist. When one graduates from feeding into others opinions, it becomes easier, much easier

I want the world to know I love what I do, I wouldn’t trade writing, recording, performing & touching people with my voice and message in for the world. I want those out there battling depression & suffering with mental illnesses & mental breaks to know that you aren’t alone. There’s a vast number of people out there just like you & I who have gotten the help they need & that same help is available to you. & I mean for all other intents and purposes I want all of my fans & new audiences to look at me & see the manifestations of “dreams do come true”. I’m no different from anyone in the world that has a dream that is so deeply rooted in them that they ask God to take it away if it’s not going to manifest in its fullest potential. The only difference is I meet that energy & go after it every day relentlessly where others gave up or pressed pause. I hope with the launch of my production company Lyrical Lyric Entertainment, the new season of my talk web series & my endless motion in the music scene that I continue to uplift & inspire all of the fallen hearts out there to go after their dreams. As it’s all possible when you believe & pursue, I’m a living testament to that.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well the one thing I tell people who are coming to Atlanta is they have to try out some of the hottest restaurants in the area. One of my favorite spots to stop in is Old Lady Gang Southern Cuisine on Peters Street. Now, these are on my cheat days & special occasions of course, my diet doesn’t afford me the luxury of embellishing in these soulful delights often. But, I always refer people to this location. The foods always cooked fresh to order & the Bob Marley & sneaky Georgia peach drinks will have you faded & feeling light at the bar. It’s possible I’m a bit biased because I know the owners but in all fairness, the staff at these locations work tirelessly to always deliver a great experience. & I have yet to be disappointed in the food or service.

You can’t come to the A without checking out our strip clubs & roof top brunch parties. Bottomless mimosas, hookahs, great views on a high rise like Visions & Cafe Circa or Trap City Cafe to stripper poles, dollar bills & tequila shots all night at spots like The Blue Flame, Strokers, Magic City or Pin Ups. Atlanta is the real city that never sleeps, but as much as we love to eat & party… The truth of the matter is Atlanta is a stomping ground of black excellence, black hollywood & entrepreneurial bliss. For every club & restauranteur there’s always an educational conference, money making seminar or spoken word & concert flooding the city like saccades. If my best friend were in town we’d do all the things, but we’d definitely have to raise our vibrations & higher consciousness by tapping in with the movers & the shakers.

Lastly, because I am an artist & these are once & a lifetime moments most people never experience in this lifetime, I’d end the week off by taking my friends to The Zen Bar, the recording studio & an art painting class. See The Zen Bar is a health & wellness store for everything mind, body & spirit. We’d more than likely go for the mindfulness & meditation class, leaving only after getting our chakra smoothies. The studio is 1/2 of the only places on Earth I feel safe & I don’t invite everyone to my holies of holiest places so if invited consider it an honor. Writers Block Studios in Marietta, Georgia is my home studio, is my safe place & an overall vibe you know? I create musical magic with the help of my producer & engineer. The motion – dim lights really add to the elegance & peaceful ominous that fills the air during my private sessions. From there an art painting class or my favorite “sip and paint”. ATL has weekly art painting events, some free but most cheap. The last one I attended was epic, sweet red wine, a blank canvas & a topless model. Let’s just say Atlanta has much more to offer than what meets the eye. And a week vacation may not be enough time to capture it all. But one will definitely leave wondering when their schedule will permit another trip of epic proportions as such.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow! That’s a loaded question, you know? I mean there have been so many individuals that’ve been instrumental in the success that is Lyric` B today. But okay so I’ll do this, with the popularity of social media many of our careers are resurged & opportunities are being offered towards artist like myself based off viral videos catching the attention of fans & promotors. With that being said I have to shoutout The DJ Aone & the ladies of Xscape for showing me love & helping me keep this musical dream alive. See back in November of 2022 while performing their hit record “Understanding” in concert, Tameka (Tiny) passed me the microphone to sing her verse. If you thought that was a showstopper, I’ll never forget Aone rushing behind the DJ Booth to drop the beat for my voice to be heard by every artist, exec, paparazzi & fan in the building. The videos from that night went viral almost overnight & to this day are still drawing a new audience to my music. To the point if people don’t know me from my years in radio, unscripted television or music… They remember me as that guy that went viral for singing with Xscape.
Both Kandi & Tiny’s reaction to my vocals make me chuckle in pride to this day. As a young jit you always wonder what those who’ve inspired you in some way think of you. I can admit after being eliminated from the televised singing competition I was on back in 2016, I always wondered if Kandi would’ve liked my voice had I made it to the finale. I’d like to believe after singing their song & the feedback from the audience they both are as proud as they seemed & for me that’s alright. For me, knowing those who’ve inspired me to pursue my dreams are proud of me, I don’t know it does something for that little boy that just wanted sing, you know?

It’s funny, I recently was just telling Aone how appreciative I am of him for putting that concert on for the city we call home. Thankful that he ran behind the DJ Booth to drop the beat enough for me to be heard by everyone. I will always have much love & respect for both parties & that’s on the gang.
