We had the good fortune of connecting with Logan Harrison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Logan, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business helps both my community, and communities around the world by offering everyone an alternative to the normal baked goods. With my business I plan to dominate the vegan baking community. I am always looking for different ways to meet the needs of people all around the world. Whether those needs are gluten-free, dairy free, soy free or even sugar-free, I want everyone to enjoy those sweet, sweet, luscious bites of decadence that you get from eating a dessert or a baked good. With Layers by Lo offering country wide shipping, this allows everyone to be able to enjoy Layers by Lo at any given time.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I would start this off with what sets me apart as being a vegan baker, but it’s 2020 in these days this stuff is on the rise. That’s not going to stick anymore, I have to start being downright truthful about how great my business is. I am a plant-based chef, not just a baker. I am a scientist, I am an artist, I am a creative thinker. All of these characteristics are shown in Layers by Lo. Everything that I create is created with love and great energy. My happy place is my kitchen with my stand mixers and oven. Anything that you get from me will be amazing and thoughtfully created. That is what sets me apart. It is definitely not easy, becoming and being a business owner. You will have bad weeks and good weeks, and some days you literally just don’t want to do it anymore, but if it is something that you’re passionate about and love, you just pull yourself out of that somehow. That is of course my personal experience, but I know that there is someone that can relate. What I want the world to know about Layers by Lo, is that this is not a gimmick, And it is definitely here to stay for years and years and years to come.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I have to give a huge shout out to my mom. If it was not for my mom, cleaning up after me after baking up a tornado in her house, helping organize things for orders, picking up an ingredient that I forgot at the store, coming to my vendor events to help, staying up late to take a cake out of the oven for me because I was so tired I needed rest, Layers by Lo would not be alive today. She is definitely a vital part. Secondly, my customers deserve so much appreciation, as they have stuck my bumps and bruises out with me (and still because I’m far from a perfect business) while I navigate. The majority of my customers have been kind, caring, patient and supportive throughout everything I’ve done. I love all of you more than you know!
