Hi LeylisMR., why did you pursue a creative career?
Pursuing a career as a visual artist is more than just choosing a profession; it’s about embracing a passion that speaks to the very core of who you are. This journey is often fueled by a desire to express emotions, tell stories, and capture moments that words alone cannot convey. Every brushstroke becomes a testament to your own unique perspective, inviting others to see the world through your eyes.

Art is a deeply personal journey, and each artist’s path is uniquely their own. What sets me apart from others is not only my style but also the experiences that have shaped my creative expression. My work reflects the struggles and triumphs I’ve faced along the way, serving as a testament to resilience and passion. Through the storytelling of my work, every brushstroke carries a piece of my heart, reflecting not just what I see, but what I feel as a witness of our current reality.

There were moments of doubt, times when inspiration felt elusive, and challenges that seemed overwhelming. However, every setback became an opportunity for growth and analysis. I learned to embrace failure as part of the process—each misstep taught me valuable lessons about perseverance and innovation… a chance to stop, reevaluate and reinvent myself. What excites me most now is the ability to connect with others through my art. Each piece tells a story, inviting viewers into my world while inspiring them to reflect on their own journeys.

Life shape us, and along this path, we inevitably gather invaluable lessons. One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned is the importance of resilience. Challenges are not just obstacles; they are opportunities for growth. Embracing them has taught me to adapt, learn, and emerge stronger than before. Another is the power of connection. Building relationships with others enriches our lives in ways we often overlook. Whether through collaboration or simply sharing stories, these connections remind us that we are never alone in our struggles or triumphs. I’ve discovered that embracing vulnerability can lead to incredible strength. Allowing ourselves to be open and authentic fosters deeper relationships and invites support from those around us… Each lesson contributes to a wisdom that guides us forward, inspiring not only ourselves but also those who walk alongside us on this journey called life.

Me, LeylisMR, believe that every artwork is more than just a visual experience; it’s a profound expression of the human condition and a reflection of our society. My creations are infused with deep meanings that invite viewers to embark on a journey of introspection. Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is a vibrant city exploding with creativity, culture, and excitement. One of my favorite places to explore is the High Museum of Art. This incredible institution not only showcases stunning collections but also fosters a sense of community through its engaging programs and events. Every visit feels like an adventure as I discover new artists and pieces that resonate with my own creative spirit.

Another delightful experience is the sip and paint sessions that I often enjoy with my best friend. We share many commonalities, which makes these outings even more special. And of course, my art studio! hahaha, it’s a perfect blend of relaxation and inspiration, where we can express ourselves freely and with no judgment (something we all aspire to have from time to time) while sipping on our favorite beverages.

And let’s not forget about food! Atlanta possesses a fantastic array of dining options, including some amazing Latino restaurants that never fail to fascinate our taste buds. This could be traditional or a fusion of flavors and lively atmosphere with traditional music creating an unforgettable dining experience that adds to the city’s charm. Being a Peruvian, I would consider recommending trying some Latino food that connects you to vibrant cultures and rich traditions. Not only as a gastronomical experience, but also as a learning experience.

I think Atlanta has something for everyone. It’s a city where inspiration thrives, making it an exciting place to live or visit, that is why I love Atlanta because it always makes me feel at home!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In the weavery of our lives, there are often threads that shine brighter than others, illuminating our paths and inspiring us to reach greater heights. There were and are many differents impactful elements and moments that marked my core with knowledge and experiences of life, but I always go back to the same esencial answer… “The Thriad constalation” how I usually call it, conformed by three important stars.

Today, I want to take a moment to dedicate my heartfelt shoutout to three incredible women who have profoundly influenced my journey: my mother, my grandmother, and my high school art teacher.

My mother is the embodiment of strength and resilience. Her unconditional support has been a constant source of inspiration. She taught me the value of hard work and perseverance, always encouraging me to chase my dreams fearlessly. Her belief in me has instilled a confidence that propels me forward even in the face of challenges.

Equally deserving of recognition is my grandmother, whose wisdom transcends generations. With every story she shares and every lesson she imparts, she reminds me of the importance of kindness and compassion. Her nurturing spirit has shaped not only who I am but also how I interact with the world around me.

And then there’s my high school art teacher, who opened doors I never knew existed. With his guidance and encouragement, I discovered passions I never thought possible. She ignited a spark within me that fuels my desire for knowledge and growth every day. He played an important role who inspired me to let my voice out there and to realize how impactful teachers or educator are in our lifes… that is why I became one.

Together, these remarkable women have made a foundation upon which I’ve built my aspirations. Their love, wisdom, and encouragement remind us all that we are never alone on our journeys; we carry with us those who have believed in us along the way. Let’s take a moment to celebrate those unsung heroes in our lives—because they truly deserve all the credit for helping us become who we are today!
