We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Bearden and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
At first, my photography began as a hobby. My babygirl had just turned 6 months old and I wanted to have some fun photos of her. I invested in a camera and lens and started taking pictures of her. My sister in law had me do a photoshoot with her and her husband at home. She shared the pictures on her social media page and the attention it received made me realize I could turn this hobby into a business. I created a Facebook page, held a giveaway and that is how Lauren Bearden Photography began.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My most favorite thing to do, is go to my grandmothers house and pull out the old photos. That is what I want to be able to deliver to my clients. I want for them to look through memories that I have captured for them and remember how they felt at that very moment.
This adventure has not been easy. I have failed a few times and made a few mistakes along the way. However, my love for photography has always came out on top. My passion for capturing special moments for people is what has driven me to keep going, keep learning, and to keep pushing to be better than I was yesterday.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My visions for great photography are sunrises, sunsets and the city! I have lived long enough to realize that what is most important is the happiness you feel n your heart watching a sunrise or sunset! So we would go chase a few sunrises! Especially over at Sweetwater State Park. This place is amazing! It has this old brick building that has overtime been consumed with nature. You can get some breathtaking images here.
The best sunsets would be on top of any mountain. Stone Mountain or even Cloudland Canyon! Cloudland Canyon holds a special place in my heart, I always went camping there and have watched many sunsets there!
Ponce City Market is the place to be at! Drinks, food and the atmosphere is what makes this place! Also, The Battery.. who doesn’t love baseball? The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to most definitely recognize my family and my first clients. My family has supported me through this adventure and has always held me in high regard.
To my first clients, thank you for trusting me to capture your special moments and delivering to you a high quality product.
