We had the good fortune of connecting with Latoya A. Benson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Latoya B., is there something you believe many others might not?
I’ve heard many people express this concept that whatever is for you will find you. My response to that is…lies LOL. I believe that you must show up attracting what is already yours. As a Life Strategist, I teach people how to become irresistible to their destiny. What I mean by that is there are things that are designed specifically for you. Your job is to discover the plan and purpose for your life, tap into the blueprint and become your highest self so you can show up looking and talking like what’s waiting for you. That means you have to raise the bar. You must elevate your mindset so that you think differently which will affect how you speak, which will ultimately affect what you do. What’s waiting for you is looking for a specific version of you. When you become that, you will be irresistible to your destiny and become one with it.

What should our readers know about your business?
I was raised by a single mother so I certainly understand the need for hard work, perseverance, and most of all faith. Growing up with my father in and out of my life, my struggle with identity, self-esteem, and confidence was one that I’ve had to work to break through. My faith and prayer life was developed at a young age and was the driving force behind my resilience and bounce back.

I stumbled upon my gifts that has led to my success in business. As a creative, I started out in the area of women’s empowerment which led to a newsletter that quickly grew into an online magazine. It was through that endeavor that I discovered my eye for visual branding and design. As CEO of Branded 1428, I help emerging entrepreneurs and small businesses fulfill their vision with creativity and excellence by unboxing their gifts, skillsets and ideas and packaging their difference. As a Life Strategist, I guide multi-faceted people in shifting from neutral to drive and reframing their life to become irresistible to their destiny. In all that I do, my secret sauce is that I am excellent at assisting my clients with pulling out the greatness within them or their business and packaging it for success.

My journey to entrepreneurship has not been easy. There have been numerous challenges especially my transition from full-time employee to full-time entrepreneur. Yes, I Swapped a Paycheck for Purpose.TM but that started long before transitioning from my good government job. In doing so, I have learned so many lessons such as: praying about the decisions you make, asking for what you want, leveraging what you have, and creating a great self-care plan. I am proud of my journey and the ability to build an authentic, relatable, sassy, and timeless brand.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorites spots in Washington, DC is anywhere that has great food and an amazing scenery. You can’t go out in the city and not get selfies. LOL. A great night out in the city for me would include dinner at the Georgetown Waterfront or dinner at Ocean Prime in downtown DC. Of course great conversation is a must and lots of pictures. I also love wineries so I would definitely suggest visiting your local winery for small bites, wine tasting and a chill evening.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout my amazing support system who has always believed in me no matter the circumstances. Thank you to my family, children, spiritual leaders, mentors, team, close friends and all the people who support the work that I do.
