We had the good fortune of connecting with Lashay B and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lashay, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks, head on, even when scared has gotten me to the where I am. Being fearless is scary but I prepare and over prepare so when those curve balls come and can pivot and move. Trying and being fearful has lead to a lot of success all while still be humble.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I work in radio and dj. I get up everyday and do what I love. People voluntarily invite me in to their spaces and I do my best to honor that every time push the ON button. I have my own midday show, Lashay B In The Midday, which is currently #1 in the Huntsville, AL Market. I have loved music and radio, since my early years. The journey hasn’t been easy, with it being such a competitive market and industry. I do my best to stay current and polished. I try not to ever get complacent because radio and media is a field that is always changing. Are there challenges, yes, but I constantly try to find a resolution. Along the way I have learned to know only know how to do my job but other jobs in the field. That helps with trouble shooting and can also become another source of income by learning a different craft but in the media/radio field. I would love to leave a legacy of positiveness reared around music and my philanthropy work.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
TACOS!!!!! We are getting all of the tacos! After we eat all the Tacos we would head over to The Camp on a Tuesday night and check our Mixx Madness to see some of the best djs in the City! Later in the week we will catch a concert at The Orion Amphitheater. We would wrap the week up eating friend fish from locally owned Big Johns. Let eat and listen to music all week!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents. They have been encouraging of everything I have decided to do. It has always been a yes with them and turned out to make me fearless.
