We had the good fortune of connecting with Lacy Fields and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lacy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my own business because I got tired of waiting for permission to build the kind of life and impact I knew I was capable of creating. I’ve always been someone who sees possibilities and looks for ways to make things better. Over time, I realized that if I wanted the freedom to serve people the way I believed they deserved to be served, create new programs, and build something bigger than myself, I would have to create it.

Starting a business wasn’t about becoming an entrepreneur for the title. It was about ownership. It meant ownership of my time, my vision, my growth, and the difference I wanted to make. It has pushed me to become more resilient, resourceful, and adaptable, and it’s taught me that success comes from being willing to take action before everything feels perfect.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the founder of Emotional Wealth Academy, a company dedicated to helping people move beyond survival and build lives rooted in emotional wellness, resilience, and possibility. As a licensed therapist, I noticed that many people weren’t lacking talent or potential—they were carrying survival patterns that kept them stuck.

What sets my work apart is my focus on helping people understand and unravel those patterns so they can create lasting change. My mission is to help people move from threat-based living to possibility-based living.

My journey wasn’t easy. I overcame poverty, homelessness, and many personal challenges while raising my children and pursuing my education. Those experiences shaped both my perspective and my purpose. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that your circumstances do not have to define your future.

What I want people to know about my brand is that transformation is possible. I believe emotional health is a form of wealth, and when people learn to move beyond survival, they create space for joy, purpose, and a life they genuinely love.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Atlanta for a week, I’d make sure they got a mix of great food, culture, and outdoor fun. We’d grab brunch at Breakfast Boys, coffee and donuts from DailyO Doughnuts, and lunch at La Semilla for their amazing vegan Cuban sandwich. We’d definitely stop by Botiwalla for the lamb burger, paneer tikka, and masala potatoes, and Annie Laura’s Kitchen for soul food.

For sightseeing, we’d visit the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park, walk the Atlanta BeltLine, explore the Atlanta Botanical Garden, visit the High Museum of Art, and spend an evening at The Battery Atlanta. We’d also hike Arabia Mountain, go tubing on the Chattahoochee River, and catch a sunset in Piedmont Park.

What I love most about Atlanta is that it blends history, culture, food, and nature in a way that offers something for everyone.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without question, my biggest shoutout goes to my children. They have been my greatest motivation, my greatest teachers, and the reason I kept going during some of the hardest seasons of my life. Long before I had degrees, licenses, businesses, or accomplishments, I was a mother learning how to navigate life while working to create something better for my family. They have inspired me to grow, heal, take risks, and become the person I am today.

I also want to recognize the mentors, teachers, clients, friends, and faith leaders who have poured into me along the way. Every lesson, opportunity, difficult conversation, and word of encouragement helped shape my journey. I am especially grateful for the people who believed in me before I fully believed in myself and who reminded me of my potential during moments when the path ahead wasn’t clear.
