Meet DDJ The Problem | Artist & CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with DDJ The Problem and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DDJ, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Being delusional. I like to call it my superpower, not because I ignore reality, but because I refuse to let my current reality define my potential. It’s the one thing that gets me outside my comfort zone, to attempt things before I’m fully qualified, to get started on projects that seem too large, and to walk into rooms where nobody knows my name (especially where I’m often the youngest).

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m multifaceted, but the part of my journey I want to shed light on is DJing. There’s something special about playing music for a crowd that truly connects with the genres being played. The way that I play, I like to elicit a surprised reaction. In that light, my goal isn’t just to play songs, it’s to create moments. I like to build energy, spark nostalgia, introduce people to something new, and ultimately make strangers feel connected through sound.
What sets me apart is that I approach DJing as both an art and a responsibility. Every crowd is different, and reading a room takes more than just technical skill – It takes empathy, confidence, and intuition. That aside, I’ve spent years studying and playing music (I play the piano, drums, and bass guitar), thus all of my mixes sound harmonious. Yes, I’m one of those DJs who is particular about mixing in key.
All of these years have refined my ability to tell a story through a set, and just like many creatives, the journey hasn’t been easy. With limited resources, little recognition, and a lot of trial and error, my patience has really been tested, but passion is the one thing that saw me through. Some events underperformed, even to the point where people trashed them on Twitter; there were moments where success felt far away (still is), but what kept me grounded was delusion, which some may call belief.
Today, I’m most proud of the spaces and experiences I’ve helped create for the diaspora and beyond. My goal has always been bigger than music; it’s about bringing people together. If I want the world to know one thing about my brand, it’s that every event, every set, and every experience is designed to make people feel a part of something, to give you that larger-than-life feeling.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a whole week, we definitely gotta see the vibes. Key spots, though, Salvation Army to get fly for the weekend, Cascade to really get into that ATL skate culture, El Malo during a Saturday, B**** for some authentic Ghanaian lunch (yes, I’m gatekeeping), Bloombar for some hookah and drinks over a chill vibe. If it’s their first time, the dump is mandatory, so might hit downtown for some pictures. To touch grass, we’ll climb Stone Mountain or hike the Chattahoochee River Trails. Depending on the budget, we might pass by the Porsche experience. It’s a whole lot we could get into.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Huge shout-out to God first and foremost. Having life to even perform like this is no joke. To every single person who has attended one of my sets, big shout-out to you as well. The reactions, flowers and kind words keep me going. I can never forget where I started man, OJ, Section, Meka, Drizzy, Fabian, Kevin, y’all believed in DDJ way before everyone else. To my community, PLAYHSE, let’s conquer the world together! And lastly, to my brother, TK, we’re on different timing right now. Shoutout to you.
