We had the good fortune of connecting with Kylie DeMarco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kylie, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Doing the work to maintain a positive mindset has been crucial to every win I’ve had. It’s an every day, sometimes minute by minute, decision to believe in yourself. To trust that if you’ve made it this far, you can achieve that next goal.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I work at The Sample Shoppe in Smyrna, GA as the store manager. I’ve been in bridal since November of 2011. It was a happy accident where I was hired as a receptionist, but unknowingly went on the sales floor on my first day and found my passion for bridal.

My job is about so much more than showing dresses to women that are engaged. I’ve laughed, cried, and everything in between with my brides. I’ve seen brides recovering from breast cancer rediscover their beauty. I’ve helped the first transgender homecoming queen in Cobb County find her dress. The connections I make on a daily basis are nothing short of beautiful. It has always come natural to me, but it hasn’t always been easy.

Getting married is a very emotional time in anyone’s life, and tuning into that in the right way is a skill that is learned and grown upon. After years in this industry, I’m still learning. My career has taught me the definition of “Find a job you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life”.

At The Sample Shoppe, we strive to give our brides a truly personalized experience in an inviting and judge-free space. It’s about so much more than finding a wedding gown. It’s women celebrating and building each other up and it’s a privilege to call this my career.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
With 3 kids and a full-time job, I don’t get out a ton. I will say Midtown is a must visit. The energy there is unmatched. Ponce City Market and the cute spots around the Virginia Highlands area are perfect for a relaxing Sunday afternoon.

If you don’t mind traveling a bit outside of the Atlanta area – Helen, GA is the most adorable little weekend getaway. You’ve got gorgeous views of the mountains, quaint stores and architecture, and great food. Get a cabin (one with a hot tub is a must), and you and your friends are set for the weekend.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to first give a shout out to my family. My husband has been by my side as we’ve grown together to create our beautiful life. He and our kids are always there with unconditional love and support.
My mom, for showing me what it means to have the strength to keep going through all life’s ups and downs.
And lastly, I want to shoutout the amazing, woman-owned and woman-led company that I work for. I’ve learned so much about my capabilities, have been mentored by the best of the best in our industry, and met so many inspiring women in my role at The White Magnolia/The Sample Shoppe.
