We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristen Ruth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristen, can you tell us about a book that has had a meaningful impact on you?
A book that has had a meaningful impact on me is one written by me. It is called, “I’m not comfortable being uncomfortable…but %!# IT!”. This is the first of many books I will be releasing soon; This one will be coming out in July. I like it, not only because I wrote it, but because it inspires. It was written to be directed towards our youth and dreamers alike. The impact it has had on me has taught me to push myself out my comfort zone if I want to achieve something greater and bigger. This is also the overall message/tone of the book. After writing and reading it back I felt encouraged, inspired, motivated and proud, which ultimately led me to creating my podcast called ‘Krisology’. With everything that is going on in society today this is something that is needed. We all want success and happiness. This book will challenge people to explore new horizons and change what needs to be changed within themselves to do so. “I’m not comfortable being uncomfortable…but %!# IT!” is a part of my ‘Play, Pause, Stop, Rewind’ collection. The rest of the collection consist of fiction novels.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

The art that I create on a day-to-day basis is what keeps me busy professionally. I create art through storytelling via my many books I have coming out soon. I am also a podcaster. My books consist of fiction and nonfiction. My podcast is about self-improvement. I cover topics such as self-awareness, self-accountability, and mental health. My goal is to leave my listeners in a better state of mind by the end of each episode; Making them want to change one aspect in their life for the better, improving their overall self. I have entertaining storytelling conversations with guest on my podcast as well so that my listeners can get different perspectives. My podcast is on most platforms where podcasts are available, or it can be found on Anchor.FM/Kristen-Ruth.

What sets me apart from others is my story and my resilience. I have had a lot on my plate for years, but I’ve always found a way to maintain, push through and not give up. What I am most proud of and excited about are my first two books dropping at the end of July. One is a fictional romcom and the other is a nonfiction based on my life experiences. Since graduating college I’ve known that I’ve wanted to write novels that not only tell great stories and are entertaining, but novels that we can also learn something from.

I am not yet where I want to be professionally. However, I know that I will be very soon. The road to success is not easy, but I know with my past experiences I will surmount and achieve everything I have set out to do! On the journey/path I am currently on, I am learning to push myself out of my comfort zone, trust my judgement and instincts and go for what it is I say I want regardless of what lies ahead.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I am an animal loving, heart on my sleeve, passionate, compassionate, kindhearted, optimistic go getter! I will stop at nothing until I obtain everything I want in life. Once I get to where I want to be, I want to help others do the same.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

If the readers have a friend visiting town, there are a million places they could take him or her. Being that I am into art and food I would first start with a good restaurant to eat at. Places I would recommend them to start would be Mary Mac’s Tea Room, Busy Bee Café, BQE Restaurant & Lounge, Sweet Georgia Juke Joint, and the Krog Street Market to eat at Fred’s Meats & Bread. If you haven’t had the Korean Cheesesteak with candied jalapenos on it from Fred’s you are missing out! Sooo good!! I would recommend checking to see if there was anything playing at the Alliance or Fox Theatre so the reader and their friend could maybe check out a play. I would also highly suggest they make sure to check out places like the Beltline, GA Aquarium, Fernbank Museum, APEX Museum, National Centre for Civil and Human Rights, MLK Jr. National Site and the CNN center. There would be much more of course, but too much to list off the top of my head. All I know is, if this were my friend, they would be booked and busy while visiting me! There are so many gems here that you cannot go too wrong. Even hanging out at a local hole in the wall, you can’t go wrong!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are a few people who deserve some credit and recognition to getting me where I am today. However, only one person stands out the most! With that being said, I want to dedicate my shout out to my mom, Faith. She has been my biggest supporter, advocate, and encourager since day one! She has always believed in me, motivated me, taught me, and pushed me to be and do my absolute best. Growing up, she always let my brother and I know that although things may not come easy, anything is possible if we just put our minds to it, go hard and keep God first. She is not only my mom, but also my best friend, personal shero and the most beautiful queen I know! I hope to be as great of a mom she is when I have kids.
