We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimi, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always had the goal to be an entrepreneur since I was 18 years of age. My goal was to go to college, study in fashion and business management first. Following that I planned to work as a leader in retail so that I could learn the business and how it all worked before I was ready to open and or start my own businesses. I knew that I could do it, but I wanted to learn first, gain experience and do it with knowledge from the retail and corporate world of fashion and business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a woman of many talents and gifts. I am also a music recording artist, I sing, and I write music as well aside from me being an entrepreneur & Fashion Stylist. Genre R&B. What sets me apart from others in music for sure is my sound, my style and me! I am just very different and creative when I’m in that space…It’s a real gift that’s from God so when people hear my music, they can also feel my energy and authenticity. As far as being an entrepreneur and Stylist that sets me apart because I show my passion, care and creativity when it comes to putting looks together and making others feel good about themselves. It’s genuine and I truly love doing that! I also love business! Was it easy? I feel like nothing is hard… It’s just about your mindset, willingness to learn and your trust in your process. However, you do have to work hard. Being an entrepreneur has its ups and downs in the business, just keep learning and making changes where needed. I’ve always had a strong belief that I can achieve whatever, because of my support system in church as a kid and self-determination. What I’ve learned along the way is that knowledge is a great key to succeed, confidence, openness to learn and unlearn is needed. Also, it’s okay to start over in this business! Just keep trying, stay consistent and love whatever it is that you do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is fun! I would most definitely take them Kilwins in atlantic station for sweets, it’s my favorite ice cream shop and everyone who knows me knows that about me! haha As far as a nice chill spot where others can have drinks, a nice vibe and great food all at once, I’d suggest Pasha in Buckhead, Colony Square in Midtown and Divan Restaurant in Midtown Atlanta. For fun, the painted duck is fun and has a really nice setting in the Buckhead area. Those are a few places I can name as of now that come to mind.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have earned many successes working as a leader in some of the Top retail brands in Georgia for over 13 years, being a personal stylist freelance and, in the retail, world changing lives and helping many brands grow in many areas through my education, passion and expertise. I would most definitely shoutout my mother and my dad because they both set the tone for fashion, style, being presented well and with teaching me the importance of being free to express and creative in some areas that helped me feel the comfort and confidence to follow this passion.
