Meet Kimara Nicholas | Paint Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimara Nicholas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimara, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
The most important thing that I’ve done as a parent in terms of the impact on my children is to never stop fighting. Struggling with mental health issues since 2006 has been a long and hard battle but my children who are actually young adults (30 & 21) have seen me fight every day to overcome my mental health issues. They’ve seen me raise them as a single mom, move from our hometown of New York to Georgia and many other struggles.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am very new to the art world. I was looking for a way to help cope with my mental health issues and heard that painting was a great way to help calm your mind so I looked into painting. I find that while I can’t draw, painting helped ease my mind and alleviate the turmoil. I found Paint Party Headquarters a membership-based organization and found that I could make painting a business and started Picture Perfect Paintings. Starting any business isn’t easy and Picture Perfect Paintings has been no different. The biggest challenge I am facing is having people attend my events. This is a challenge that I am still struggling with today but I am still in the infancy stages of starting my business. What I want the world to know about my brand Picture Perfect Paintings and my story is that I want to heal people’s minds through painting.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting we would go to the Aquarium and the Coca-Cola factory and then lunch at Louisiana Bistreaux Seafood Kitchen East Point for the Fried Catfish and Shrimp combo served with Lemon Jalapeno Coleslaw and Brabant Potatoes for our nighttime entertainment we would go to Cirque Daiquiri Bar & Grill for the Cirque Soul Rolls.
The next day we would go to Picasso’s Splat Room in Morrow for some fun splatter art. Then lunch at Eggs Up Grill for Crab-ocado Scrambler scrambled eggs with crab and avocado!! Delicious. Then we would go to the Morrow City Center to check out local info. Then we would head to Seven Sports Bar & Lounge for drinks and Lamb Chops.
Tanger Outlets would be an all-day trip and enjoy some food from the food court.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out my children, Adam and Amaya, who have always loved me, encouraged me and supported me through my highs and lows.
