We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiesha Pitter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kiesha, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by the mere fact that doctors told me that I wouldn’t live pass age 20 due to being born with Sickle Cell Anemia but I’m now 31 by the grace of God. I am truly blessed and God is the driver behind it all and I will forever be eternally grateful. Without God I am simply dust but He chose me for a reason because our God is not arbitrary nor is He random. There is a purpose behind Everything and He use our pain and turn it into power for His glory.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
This is a very interesting and unique question. I got my first summer jab at age 27 and very first paying job at age 28 as customer service representative. What’s set me apart from others is that it’s not just a job for me its a space where can grow, meet new people, share and nurture and leave a lasting impact. It wasn’t easy being home all the time and going back and forth to the doctors office one would truly thought I worked there. I had overcome many challenges but the biggest battle was with myself and I had to step outside my comfort zone and embrace discomfort in order to see true growth that’s one of the many lessons I’ve learned. I want the world to know that Chronic Illness Doesn’t Mean Your Life Is Over and that We Believe God Not Our Diagnosis. My story is filled with a true testament of the faithfulness of God. Your story is not over, it is still be written by God.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to the movies ever since I was a child every year my family would ask me…what do you want for your birthday? And I’ll say MOVIES with a big smile on my face and I know in this day and age we all can watch movies on our phones but there was just this peace and adrenaline rush of being at the cinema. The never line at the entrance; the buttery smell of popcorn; the sound of excitement the posters of upcoming movies snd trailers that keeps you guessing the big screen; the movement of people and loud chatter it’s just an amzing feeling. Movies, playing basketball and cheerleading dance, choir, sign language rehearsal with my church friends hanging out at the beach.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God first and foremost, He is my ultimate Savior and King; my family has been my especially my mom; my friends and church family; my publisher Coach Crystal Daye and my partner whonis also the co-author of my first published book called A Call To Deeper Prayer: 31 Days Toward Building Undefeated Faith for Persons Struggling with Chronic Illnesses.
