We had the good fortune of connecting with Kara Addison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kara, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
It might seem like the opposite of an affirmation and that’s because it is!
My motto in life is “You are really not that important”.
I think society today is hyper-focused on SELF and that is not the way I want to live. If you look at the world from above, the truth is…you are really don’t matter that much. Your problems aren’t that big; your accomplishments aren’t that great.
That mindset shifts your focus away from yourself and onto others. It quiets the urge to complain, to self-promote, and to make excuses.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My goal is to create images that are truly timeless. I’m not the photographer who shifts her style with every passing social media trend. I want my work to feel as relevant and beautiful in 50 years as it does today.

I don’t rely on filters, heavy editing, or altering the natural tone of a scene. I want every bride to treasure her portraits—not just on her wedding day, but tomorrow, and for every season of her life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My roots in Atlanta run back to high school when we would sneak out of first period and head to Little Five Points. I spent my college nights in Virginia Highlands pretending to be more cultured and elevated. I worked in Buckhead but my heart always stayed near Turner Field—the kind of downtown spot that had you clutching your purse while still chopping the chop with pride.

A perfect day in Atlanta for me? It starts with a stroll through Ponce City Market, then a splash in the Centennial Park fountains after the dolphin show. Lunch at Fellini’s, and then capping it all off with a night at The Battery, cheering on my favorite team.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The Bible. The single best book every written.
