We had the good fortune of connecting with Kanesha Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kanesha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always been a go-getter or a hustler, so to speak, and wanted something to call my own. I wanted something that I can say that I built from the ground up. Très Chic Home Interiors was born in 2020, during the pandemic, after I put an end to my previous business, Très Chic Events.

I was a wedding planner and decorator for 8 years before starting Très Chic Home Interiors. I ended that venture and decided to turn my focus to priorities that were higher on the totem pole, my son. It was only supposed to be for a year but my desire for planning weddings started to fade. However my love and passion for decorating never left me.

I have always had a love for fashion, colors, shapes and patterns so I decided I was going to take my skills from weddings to homes.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Très Chic Home Interiors is an interior decorating studio that specializes in creating spaces that reflects each client’s unique personality. Many designers, like myself, have a certain look or niche that they specialize in. I wanted my business model to reflect that I can do more than one style. I want a client to feel like they would truly get what they asked for but designed aesthetically pleasing. I felt this would set me apart from the rest.

Starting my business, I definitely made some mistakes. Some big and some small. I took those mistakes and turned them into lessons. I study my craft continuously and always look for ways to improve my brand. I want to grow my business beyond just decorating homes. I want to style model homes for subdivisions and eventually have a product line.

I had the opportunity to travel to Alabama for a project and in the moment I knew I had a gift that no one else had. I was extremely grateful for that project as it allowed others to see what Très Chic was about.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely love trying different restaurants in the city of Greenville. One of my absolute favorite places to dine is Sassafras. Sassafras is a southern bistro restaurant that never misses the mark when it comes to food. My favorite dish is the filet mignon topped with pimento. They also have some really good drinks also. Try the Sassatini!

A few other places, I like to dine are Yardhouse, Soby’s, Hall’s Chophouse, JustShon’s Restaurant and Boscos Baby’s Restaurant

For fun, I really like Sparetime and Top Golf. The food is good there too. A girl’s trip isn’t complete without a spa day! My favorite spa to visit is MG’s Grand Day Spa.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, God gets all the credit for my talent, drive, success and business. He alone has given me all the necessary tools to be able to do what I do.

The women in my family are the true definitions of go getters. I have watched several of them make a dollar out of 15 cents. I’m grateful especially for my mother, grandmothers, and aunts for instilling the values and morals in me, For showing me what a true hustler looks like and how to always pick myself up in any situation.

The women in my small and close friend circle are truly the best. They keep me rooted and uplift me in my time of need.

Lastly my husband and son. These two make me want to push harder and go after everything that I have ever dreamed of. They are truly my rock and my foundation.
