We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Wheaton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
Other than deciding to work for myself, I feel like the most important decision that I made that contributed to my success was putting myself in a leadership role by looking to put others in the position to create success with me. I live by being a blessings to others and there’s so many different quotes and ways that you can put it but the moment you be a blessing in others lives it does nothing but open up more blessings for you in return so I committed to not only really financial freedom and success for myself but coaching and mentoring others with the experience that I’ve accumulated on my journey to shorten the learning curve for them.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business/brand is something that I live for and have been consistently showing up for since day 1, I do run multiple business for example multiple online E-Commerce stores, an online sneaker shop, and more small businesses that I run based on availability and free time but the business I am more so proud of and most passionate about is my mentorship business. My mentorship business is so valuable more than just the things I teach but the love, positive intention and genuineness I have to helping people see and fulfill their greater purpose. Some people do things for the check but 99.9% of my action is for the impact, you can do so many good deeds for people that will pay off bigger than you can imagine in the long run and not just an upfront fee. So I solely base everything on first understanding a persons desires, wants and needs. My goal is to give all of my mentees a way of FULL financial freedom because I know that within the traditional system that’s not the goal. Being apart of the 95% will always keep you limited and confined to the results you can actually create so I look to transform and transition them to being able to say that are truly apart of that 5% of the global population that makes 95% of the worlds wealth and income available. Every job I worked at my intention was to make my life better and not to speak negative and says there’s anything wrong with a job but I’ve never been comfortable only receiving what one was offering more so always wanted I feel I deserve and no job ever gave that. So instead of taking what’s given I want to encourage, guide and mentor others to knowing and seeing how it’s possible to get whatever you feel you’re worth.

To get to where I am today it took many things such as challenges, realizations, mental and emotional feelings of defeat but I live by whatever doesn’t kill you make you bigger, better and stronger. Early on in my journey I created fast quick success for myself but within that fast quick success I also had what I like to call growth gaps which is what I believe is natural in anything but to explain further my success was growing quicker than I was. This process can be looked at as an engulfing candle in investing terms which is where there is a big large movement in the market that 99% of the time after this large movement will bring major retracements to fill in the space later. So my success grown to a point to where I lacked some skill, and knowledge that was needed which caused a pull back in results that I had to better equip myself with the skills and knowledge that I lacked to move forward and do bigger and better. Within this time I went through what can be looked at as a ‘fight or flight’ moment where I had to decide if this was something that I really wanted and was whiling to push forward with at my lowest moments financially and all around in my life or give up. In that time I found my true purpose and accepted that I had to eat dirt if I expect to help position others to eat steak meaning I had to go through the struggle first and turn my tests into a testimony because the best mentor leads by example and experiences good bad or ugly. During this time it wasn’t easy and to overcome it I always reminded myself I didn’t start for it to be an easy way of a better life I started for a possibility of a better life and being broke is hard and so is trying to get rich, one thing I tell my mentees is: “choose your hard”. I realized that I was starting to get ahead of myself in working extremely hard but not so much leaning on my faith. My favorite bible verse is Phillipians 4:13 which reads “I can do all thing through Christ which strengthens me” but in those moments I was using only Josh to strengthen myself and that didn’t get me far. Faith without works is dead and works without faith in my opinion brings stagnation and unhappiness in the present because you have to trust your process and faith is needed to trust.

I want the world to know that anything is possible. You do not need to be a millionaire, have it all figured out or even the perfect background to make an impact. You only live one life and some use that to live recklessly me I use it to go as hard as I possibly can with the time that I have to do and be the best I can be. I am originally from Chicago in an environment where having limiting belief is the biggest disease in my opinion. So many people going through struggles wether their actions led to it or just being born in unfortunate circumstances and me I am living to inspire and make a way for anyone from anywhere who’s went through anything to believe in themselves and show them ways that they can create unlimited opportunities and streams of income to become financially free and live a stress free life and do for those that love and work so hard for.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of the most fun and interesting spots I’ve visited would happen to be the Auto Spa Bistro which is a place where you can actually get your car washed and detailed while enjoying launch, drinks and hookah. The food is top tier and the vibes of the spot just gives good energy. You also have the ability to run into some highly successful people there.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The organization that deserves recognition when it comes down to the success that I’ve created and creating daily is Da Rich Family, which is simply a community/organization that we like to call a family that is driven to creating entrepreneurial and investing opportunities for individuals all around the world. Da Rich Family consist of phenomenal leaders from all different backgrounds, upbringings and journeys that lead them to where they’re so it allows so much inspiration for many different people who can relate and build belief from someone else’s success story to have confidence that success could be for them as well. They’re a couple of different leaders within the community that I would like to personally show gratitude because me being where I am today possibly wouldn’t be possible so the first acknowledgement I want to give is my personal mentor who I played basketball with in high school who’s name is Jamonte Benton. Jamonte was the very first person that I’ve seen at the young age of 19 being around the right people to get financial success and actually working in the right direction. This happened to also be the individual who introduced me to the world of investing and gave the a clearer view on entrepreneurship and how I could do something bigger than myself to change the lives of thousands. Other individuals that I would love to show appreciation for are Garrett Roberts known as RichOffTheNet who has been a successful entrepreneur for over 14 years who consistently gives me guidance and have put me in environments I dreamed of as a kid. Next Stevenson Lindor who is another one of my mentors who actually educates hundreds of thousands of people worldwide on understanding the financial markets and giving his success strategies to duplicate positive results. Stevenson has always been a REAL genuine person in my life who always made sure to show love and give credit where credit is due but most importantly I appreciate the accountable and high standards he holds me to when it comes down to achieving my goals and making my desires a reality. I could go on and on about the people who’ve adding value in my life but just to make this short I’ll list their names; Chris Williams, Misha Stewart, Wayne Williams, and Kris Beaty are also individuals who lead me by example and have played a great role in helping build my foundation in entreprenurship while being the best example of showing love and gratitude for those you appreciate.
