We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Fay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In 2015 when I began my business, my thought process was that I wanted to create a sustainable, profitable business that would allow me to utilize my combination of creative skills, communication skills, and empathetic nature in a unique and growing industry. The photo managing industry allows me to utilize my best skills and my unique personality to the fullest. I have always been a creative person and have always loved meeting and connecting with people. As a Photo Manager, I am allowed to shine!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is Picture Yourself Archived. My goal is to provide my clients with solutions that enable them to overcome the stress and overwhelm of organizing their photos, old VHS tapes, and memorabilia. I offer photo scanning, organizing, and archiving, digital photo albums, photo restoration, VHS and other media transfers to digital, DIY consultation services, and memorabilia archival services. My mission is to help my clients tell their stories through their photos. I truly believe that everyone’s story is worth hearing and deserved to be preserved, and I began my business to help people tell their stories. What sets me apart from others is that I am sensitive to people’s feelings and moods, which helps me communicate with people easily. I am very approachable. Also, I am big on inclusivity. When I see a person who is sitting or standing alone, I usually either invite them to join my group or strike up a conversation with them.

The industry that I am in is so unique and ever-changing. I so proud to be a Certified Photo Manager and Certified Privacy Advocate in The Photo Managers. I am honored to be in a field of people who are all committed to helping people preserve and share their stories. Each member of The Photo Managers provides clients with a variety of services to help them manage their photo collections. We are knowledgeable, life-long learners who stay updated on changes in technology, photography, genealogy, and various other related fields so that we can offer our clients services and products that are able to be used for years to come.

I want the world to know that because the industry is still fairly new, some people think that we only offer scrapbooking services, and that is one of the biggest misconceptions that we are working to overcome. We use technology regularly and attend trainings to help our clients organize their digital photos on their Mac or PC, we research and test various cloud-based photo storage companies to ensure that we are recommending ones that will meet our client’s needs and abilities, We use software to restore old faded and damaged photos. I and my fellow members of The Photo Managers are competent at our services that we provide our customers, and we are committed to growing our industry.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love history and I love that being one of the largest cities in the South, Atlanta is filled with many amazing museums and historical sites. I recommend that any visitor to Atlanta should spend time at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights and learn about the many men, women, and children who all played apart in the Civil Rights Movement. A visitor should experience the Lunch Counter Sit-In exhibit in order to get a better idea of what those brave young people faced and endured in order to fight for the rights we know enjoy.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is dedicated to two amazing people I am grateful to have in my life, my husband and my son. My husband and son inspire me to continue to build my business. Both my husband and son are incredibly supportive, encouraging, and have never doubted my ability to succeed as a Photo Manager. I could not run my business without their support and understanding, which they give to me consistently and freely. They are truly my biggest fans!
