We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerri Reid and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jerri, how do you think about risk?
In order to go further with anything in life you have to take a risk. There’s absolutely no way around it. I built my platform of over 500k Snobbs without revealing who I was for years. The problem was, my brand began to come to a stand still because I was afraid to show myself and put myself out there. So I took the risk and popped out as Snobb Queen and it’s been up since then. Opportunities came to me that would have never been offered if I didn’t take that risk. Sometimes we hold ourselves back by not taking risks.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Snobb Collection is my baby. I went through so many name changes and logos, it’s ridiculous. I was so focused on all the brands around me that it started to make me lose sight of what I wanted for my brand. It’s ok to get inspired and inspiration from other brands but you still have to create your own lane in the industry.
The Snobb Collection isn’t just about cosmetics but it’s also about a certain attitude that my brand caters to. When you put on my cosmetics, I want you to feel like that chick! I want that woman who hasn’t been feeling like herself lately and feels like she lost it, to feel absolutely amazing when wearing my brand. Because I was that woman before. My brand brings that girl out of you.
My brand is catered to the everyday woman. So I strategically picked shades that can be worn to a corporate office, date night, or just a girls night out. I wanted something for everybody.
The growth has been amazing to watch. I’m very proud of the direction my brand is headed in. It took a lot to get here. I had to get out of my own way and create the brand that I envisioned for myself.
Unlike most popular brands, I have so many options for lip gloss. It can be so hard to find the perfect shade of gloss that compliments your complexion. I strategically chose shades with all complexions in mind.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’s so much to do here in Atlanta. There’s literally a vibe for everyone. But for me, I’d have to take my best friend to The Real Milk And Honey on Main Street. It’s so good and I love that they have vegan options.
VVS Bar and Lounge on Old National is also a vibe. And the food is so GOOD!
I’d have to get her some Atlanta nails, so definitely stopping by Jazziebaddiebae for a full set.
And we definitely going to Allure to end the night.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband is my biggest supporter. He helps me with EVERYTHING. He encourages me when I want to give up. He’s truly the force behind my brand. There’s plenty of times I wanted to walk away and he was there each time to talk to me and wheel me back in and to remind me what I’m doing this for.
My best friend Kambria has also been right by my side. She’s the person I call when I’m frustrated and stuck. She always gives me a different perspective and her positive words are always on time.
