We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenise Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenise, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Asé” is my favorite quote! Asé is an African Proverbs that means “Let it be so”. This proverb has transformed my entire perspective and I implement it in every part of my existence. In life it is very easy to be down and frustrated about what’s happening. When you believe in Asé you train yourself to see the purpose or lesson in every situation or circumstance. In this Real Estate market buyers are beyond stressed. My buyers are the exception! Because I start our relationship helping them disarm their fears about the unknown, they are able to make clear decisions and trust that all will be okay. When a client loses several thousand dollars and they walk away with a smile and still optimistic, I’ve done something right!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am Real Estate under one roof! Believe it or not Facebook Jail landed me at Real Estate’s front door! It was during that time that I was able to assess my purpose. Real Estate is one of top wealth building avenues and I decided I wanted to be a part of making that a reality for others. The lack of education in finances in my community was unimaginable. Many of my family and friends only learned of Real Estate and building wealth in their adults years. I want people to see that it doesn’t matter your income bracket, Real Estate is a beast, yet still so beautiful when done right. Providing education and having genuine joy for everyone’s success is what sets me apart. It doesn’t matter if I’m speaking with my client, family or a stranger, I give transparency and I will leave them feeling 10xs more educated!
I’ve had great success over the years and it’s truly been 98% because of referrals. I attribute that to the aforementioned transparency. Was it easy? Not so much! That first year kicked my butt due to the lack of preparation of going from a 9 -5 to self employed. Nobody said those Real Estate closing could go from 30 days to 90 days to no fault of mine. I was touching the bottom of my bank account and that didn’t sit right! I promised myself that I would never get that low again.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that WE CONTROL NOTHING, YET EVERYTHING! Read that again! We can’t control the obstacles life throws in our journey’s path. However, we can always control if and how we maneuver around those obstacles. When you acknowledge and accept that truth, you will always be successful because you will always find a way to overcome! This is the power of ASÉ and that is what I’d like for the world to absorb from my brand and my story. I am not just a Realtor, Loan Officer or Investor. I am the life altering experience you deserve to have lifting you up during your Real Estate journey!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am based in the Carolinas and everyone loves the Carolinas!! I’m all about fun, function and food so here’s the scoop! You can’t go wrong with a stroll, Segway ride or trolley ride through Downtown Charlotte. Each block features cool artifacts, bomb restaurants, outdoor festivities and selfie worthy artwork. While ripping and running you have to stop by Hip Hop Smoothies. It’s a Hip Hop smoothie joint with a DJ, arcade games and good vibes! As for the night life, it’s either Slate Charlotte to shoot pool or Stats to dance the work week away and chow down on some delicious bites.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Hands down, my mother! I’ve coined myself The Girl with 32 Addresses because by the end of highschool I’d lived in at least 32 residences. I wasn’t a military brat, I was one of 3 children surviving with a single mom. Our youth wasn’t the most stable but it set the stage for me to aim for better. Despite so many setbacks she continued to keep her head up and if something wasn’t right, she picked up and moved on. Although, there was some side effects of such a fluid past, I can truly say my mom deserves all the credit for anything I have and am 🙂
