We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayla Phillips and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jayla, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my brand is my community. The support I’ve received is incredible and it’s the one thing that’s kept me going. There are days when I feel like I’m just running in circles and someone will reach out from another country with encouraging words of how my work has impacted them and their family. I’m like, “you’re all the way from Italy! How do you even know who I am?!” Haha. But we so often get caught up in the everyday hustle that we forget to look up and see how meaningful our work and our lives really are. It’s incredible to think of how far you can go when just one person believes in you, let alone an entire community.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My path has been quite different. I grew up in south central, Los Angeles (if you don’t know about it, Google it.) We moved to atlanta lived well below the poverty line for many years, homeless and hungry, And inspite of my circumstances I’m a first generation college graduate. I’m an entrepreneur, I’m a creative, I am a healer. The greatest hurdle along the way has been me. Learning to heal me has been my number one focus. And as I heal and evolve everything and every one around me is impacted just the same. When I was in college, I had this crazy idea that I could make a difference in my community. I identified an issue and began to mobilize my community and my resources. I started picking up trash and painting houses, transitioned into the school system and now I work with rescue animals and children. My work is simple— I move energy. I move energy in a way that heals all that come in contact with my process. And this healing doesn’t discriminate— people and animals alike. That’s what taught me the greatest lesson: it’s all about what you emanate from within. From there you can literally change the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta, especially during Covid, there’s so much to do. It’s like the city never shut down. So if you’re coming during this season I strongly encourage you to take all precautions necessary to protect you and your family. As far as night life: peters street, edgewood (also a street) check out fin and feathers my boy Jojo is the GM it’s always a great time, Apache cafe (for a chill intimate vibe), and Oak only on sundays w/ Dj Hollywood Cole! These are my go to spots. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I love that this is all about honoring those that helped write your story. My guru always says, “… But for the people that chose to love me…” And with that, I want to shout out my family, the greatest gift God could give me. I want to shout out my Front Row Yogi Family— they loved me into healing! My best friends— y’all know who you are! And lastly, my fiancé his love makes me feel like I can do anything! ❤️
