Meet Jayla Copeland | Wardrobe Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayla Copeland and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jayla, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Being a creative is a full time job; on top of my other full time job. Balance has been the theme of my life for the last seven months and honestly, I suck at it. I have learned that I choose me consistently even if that means I will look inconsistent to my audience. By doing that, my art doesn’t suffer by putting out art/content that’s not a true reflection of my highest self. Now that is balance!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My niche is thrifting. Everything that I find is always discounted or thrifted. I have always styled and shopped for friends and family so it ultimately becoming something I would make into a career was inevitable. It’s not easy being a creative in fashion. It’s hard to have consistent and frequent clientele, especially during the pandemic. However, I eat, sleep, breathe fashion. I had to find ways to still have clients despite not having an occasion to wear their clothes. Along the way I’ve learned it is vital to fully invest in myself (physically, mentally, spiritually). I would like the world to know that my name is something that I pride myself on giving to anyone I work with, J (B)eing (E)fortless (A)nd (U)nveiling (T)rue (I)dentity!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Breakfast: Marietta Local Shopping: Goodwill, Buffalo Exchange, Platos (Stonecrest/ Sandy Springs)
Lunch: juicy crab
Drinks: pour taproom
Dinner: Big Easy Grille
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My whole community has influenced me, my HBCU (Alabama State University), my friends, my aunt, and most importantly, my mom.
