We had the good fortune of connecting with Janhavi Jeevan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janhavi, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
When I think about risk, I see it as a gateway to growth rather than something to be feared. To me, risk is the necessary leap that often stands between staying stagnant and discovering something new or transformative. It involves uncertainty, yes, but it also carries the possibility of reward—whether that’s in the form of learning, personal development, or new opportunities. I consider myself a bit of a daredevil when it comes to taking risks, and moving halfway across the world for my undergraduate degree was one of the biggest risks I’ve taken. It meant leaving behind the familiar and diving into a completely new environment—one filled with unknowns. But that decision exposed me to different perspectives, cultures, and experiences that have since shaped who I am, not just professionally but personally as well. Coming from India, where pursuing engineering or medicine is often considered the norm, choosing to follow a less “conventional” path in graphic design was another significant risk. While many around me chose more secure, traditional routes, I opted to follow my passion for creativity, fully aware that it could lead to uncertainty or instability. However, this decision has allowed me to work on projects I care deeply about, push the boundaries of my skill set, and carve out a unique niche in my field. Ultimately, I believe that each risk I’ve taken has helped me grow, adapt, and shape my career in a way that aligns more closely with my values and aspirations.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a reflection of my belief that design should be both beautiful and functional. What sets me apart from others is my unique ability to blend creativity with strategic thinking, allowing me to craft designs that not only catch the eye but also serve a purpose. I’m particularly excited about projects that challenge conventional design norms and invite innovative solutions. One of my proudest achievements has been working at Veronica Beard where I had the opportunity to contribute to their Fall 2024 collection, and create assets for their NYFW event.

The journey to where I am today has not been without its challenges. Coming from a background where pursuing a career in design was seen as unconventional, I faced moments of doubt. However, I overcame these obstacles by surrounding myself with a supportive network of mentors and fellow designers who inspired me to stay true to my passion. I learned to embrace setbacks as learning experiences, which has been invaluable in my growth as a designer.

Throughout this journey, I’ve realized that collaboration is essential. Each project has taught me something new about creativity, communication, and resilience. What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I am dedicated to creating impactful designs that not only tell a story and evoke emotions but also embody an essence of elegance and sophistication.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Atlanta, I’d plan an unforgettable day filled with fun, great food, and shopping! We’d kick off the morning at Brash Coffee, where we’d savor some lattes and bagels. After fueling up, we’d head to Piedmont Park to bike around, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere and stunning city views, before taking a troll through the Atlanta Botanical Garden, to admire the captivating installations. For lunch, we’d enjoy a delightful meal at Le Bon Nosh, a cozy spot known for its delicious pastries and fresh, flavorful dishes. Afterward, we’d head over to Buckhead Village to experience a taste of luxury in Atlanta, As the day winds down, we’d indulge in a e dinner at Rumi’s Kitchen, known its flavorful Persian cuisine. We would end the day on a sweet note by getting some ice cream at Jeni’s. This day would be the perfect blend of relaxation, exploration, and culinary delights, making it a truly memorable experience!

Atlanta is a fantastic city to explore, celebrated for its rich history, vibrant culture, and thriving arts scene. Whether it’s the High Museum of Art, which stands out as a cultural gem, or places like Ponce City Market, which offers a unique blend of entertainment and history, there’s something for everyone.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Alright, let’s give credit where it’s due! Firstly, a shoutout to my parents – my mom for being my ultimate cheerleader and my dad for being my safety net, and occasionally my reality check. Thanks for putting up with my crazy antics, whether it was wanting to start learning dance or pursuing design as a career. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their unwavering support, patience, and trust in my choices, even when they seemed unconventional. They’ve taught me the importance of following my passion while staying grounded, and for that, I’m forever grateful.
