We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamarian Jones (godlikejj) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamarian Jones, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I come from Roanoke Rapids North Carolina, a small city with nothing really to do, so as a kid we had to be creative. My city and the people in it get a lot of credit for making me who I am today, because everyday was a lesson. Every kid dreams of becoming a superstar in some way, but when you’re coming from a population of only 15,000 people you have to dream a little differently. Seeing more headlines about crime than I saw about success made me feel like I wanted to be that story of success.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I make music, mainly Hip-Hop and R&B, but it’s not just a hobby to me. It’s what I love doing, and I believe it’s my purpose. I believe my understanding of lyricism and rhyme schemes set me apart from many of my peers. It truly is an art, making a song is like cooking a meal from scratch. Everyone might do it a little differently but if all the ingredients are mixed correctly the result is sensational.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Im a simple guy honestly, and considering my city had very limited options for activities I find almost everything in Atlanta interesting. Every wing spot I tried has been great, same with every bar/grill (my girlfriend sends me a new place almost every week). For activities I like things like top golf, who also has good food, and bowling. There’s also a place that has gelball, which is just paintball with gel, and that place definitely goes on the list.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My amazing girlfriend who referred you guys to me, deserves all the shout outs in the world. Her support will always be appreciated. Also shout out to my family for creating a Legend.
