We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaleesa Hardy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaleesa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It took a lot of encouragement from my friends and husband, to be honest! I’ve always been great with numbers and budgeting/planning for trips or among other things – called life. But another main factor was the pandemic. I personally felt the need to reassess my budget but also hearing how people were losing jobs, pay cuts, etc. I felt this was the time more than ever to stress the importance of financial literacy.

What should our readers know about your business?
I started Budgeting_withCents during the midst of the pandemic. I started this business to encourage people to start with budget – everything in life starts and ends with a budget. It helps you to plan better, make better financial decisions, and create healthy, sustainable financial habits that you can pass down to your children. Between our households and the education system, we are not given the proper tools need to reach financial freedom. And I understand that looks different for everyone, but starting with a budget is a MUST for everyone!

My whole goal is to get people on board with creating generational wealth in minority communities.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a week-long trip in Atlanta – where do we begin? It’s so much to do here…and different experiences to gain. Let’s start on Sunday, we’re going to brunch at the Atlanta Breakfast club then head over to the Aquarium. On Monday, we would go take a trip to Botanical gardens, go eat at Apt 4B. On Tuesday, we would head down to the Civil Rights Museum and head to the Battery for food and catch a Braves game. On Wednesday, we would go for a walk or the beltline or a hike up Stone Mountain then head for food at SluttyVegan or LocalGreens. Thursday, we would catch a Hawks game since they’re in the playoffs :). On Friday, we’d take a tour of the Trap Museum, then head to Suite Lounge for drinks and a bite to eat. Saturday we’d wrap up with a day party at The Beverly, my new favorite spot!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, DeMario is always encouraging me and finding new ways to help display my talents. He is my biggest supporter and I’m so appreciative. Next, between my family, friends, and linesisters, who are always rooting for me to keep going! I can’t thank them enough!!!
