We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Burton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Like a lot of people I was feeling very burnt out during covid. I started working for a family friend who is a florist just to try it out and instantly fell in love. Later, when I was trying to quit my job (for a multitude of reasons) I got a part time gig as a farmhand and that opened up the world of growing flowers which is really the next step for me. Everything was kinda an accident or a result of me just needing a change of pace and I’m happy I let myself change. So, I guess I had no real thought process I just ended up loving what I was doing and from that point I’ve been able to set goals and structure what my bussiness looks like

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started out as an artist but, I was just not about some of the projects that make you money in that field. I wanted to do somthing creative where I got to give poeple somthing beautiful. I have been doing flowers for about 2 years now and 2023 will be the first year I also start to grow bigger and start offering my flowers to the public. I would love to get to a point where I could do whole weddings and events with just my own product. Adding this to my bussiness is one of the biggest challenges right now besides just. maintaining the consistancy of a successful bussiness. However sustainability is very important to me and one of the best ways to be sustainable is to buy and grow local. The growing pains are worth it for me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would eat at Home Grown and Jen Chans for sure. Honestly, we’d probably end up driving out of the city to go camping.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I Would 100% not be in the spot I am now if it wasnt for all of my friends and family but, my friend Dakota has pushed me, supported me and gotten me oppertunities I would not have had otherwise. Same for the first florist I worked for, Georgia.
