We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabrielle Gonzales and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabrielle, what do you attribute your success to?
Adversity! Adversity builds character and allows you to appreciate the growth that comes a long with it. You dont get better without making mistakes!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a female DJ, i travel and do local events as well. I got together all my own equipment and created a brand for myself to showcase my music knowledge and ear for talent as well. I am most excited about helping others recognize and push themselves to competitive in the music industry. We host a new music mondays and tuesdays in different cities, to showcase the indie artists whom the world needs to hear. Most of all i love to show people a good time and come together to unwind and have some fun in this tough world we live in. Biggest lesson ive learned is to not compromise who you are to the likes of other people, as you will fit in where you are supposed to. A no at one door may still be a yes at the next door. Never give up on something you love! Being a woman in a male industry doesnt mean you cant get the same respect, you just have to be yourself and put the work in!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I. I would def take my best friend to chicken n pickle to eat good food and interact with some of the outdoor games they have, along with great food and drinks. My place to go to downtown is Mortz martini lounge with live music on the weekends and industry night pub. Industry has a nice rooftop with 3 different bars. Of course i would take my best friend to a sports club venue called sidelines where we host ‘new music tuesdays’ so she can hear the artists we have coming as well!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother absolutely 1st deserves a shoutout for life. She taught me to be strong and persistent in a world of opinions that minimize the female effort in a male dominated industry! Also Coalition DJs organization, the men in that group who introduced me to a bigger platform of music business. They believed in me and offered me a place to grow as a DJ.
