We had the good fortune of connecting with Evonya Easley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Evonya, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from the South, specifically born in Atlanta, Ga raised in Charleston, SC now back in Atlanta. My parents raised my siblings and I, to be strong and confident. That we could be and have whatever we wanted long as we did the work and put our mind to it. This has helped me on my entrepreneurial journey to stay self motivated, focused and not let others deter me from my goals and making them happen.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My love for style image and fashion begin when I was a teen. I like the confidence I felt when I know I looked good. I loved helping family and friends with their style and shopping and putting it all together they get compliments and refer others so I started to do it on the side like a fun hobby. At the time I never thought I could make my passion my career. Fast forward, I went to college majored in Political Science and then a Masters in Finance. I started working traditional jobs, always doing what I loved which was styling and shopping on nights and weekends. Between 2006-2010, it finally seemed like it might be a possibility to make my dream a reality. I networked and started to get immerse myself in the fashion community in Atlanta. I was able to intern with Mychael Knight while he was on Project Runway, and other stylists, designers and photographers. Building relationships all over the city, I was afforded an opportunity to start working & styling anchors for Fox 5, CBS, & 11Alive. From there I met a lot of people in the green room working at the stations. Some of those guests and their referrals became my first clients which was fortunate, because I was juggling my day job and working the stations. I ended up getting laid off my day job and those first clients birthed the beginning of my business Love E. I built the business by trial and error, made a lot of mistakes, had a lot of struggle, but made it thru. Those first few years were hard, but I had a lot of faith and the support of my family and friends. I continued to learn, build my network and grow my clientele. As the business grew, I have been able to service hundreds of clients, expand my team and travel the world. Now I have entered a new phase of my journey and built a mobile style app Styled by Love E to reach more people, make a bigger impact and empower more men and women thru image and style. With the app I have a team of stylists helping the users that use the app, to not only provide the wardrobe, but the styling to give access to style on demand and making shopping convenient. We can order almost everything from our phone so why not style, this way we reach more people and disrupt how shopping and getting expert advice has been done in the past. The future of fashion, style, & retail is changing and we want our clients to feel like the VIPs they are.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my friends recently came to town and we went everywhere from the drive in movie theater, to Atlanta Botanical Gardens, the Fernbank museum, and different rooftops and local owned eateries around the city. I love any place with great ambiance, food and drinks. Along with nature, and doing different activities and trying something new.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I like to thank all the people I have met along my journey that have helped me by making a connection, giving a opportunity, a referral and stepping stone to keep rising and getting better. Mainly the women in my life from my sister, to my circle of women that we support encourage each other. To the coaches and mentors I have had to my amazing clients that help me live out my dreams I am thankful and grateful.
