We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth June and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Where others might hold back to avoid loss or failure, I think of taking risks as having the opportunity to advance and grow in life. All the risks that I have ever taken have taught me useful lessons or have open doors for me in my career and personal life. I have learned to overcome my fears and trust myself more by taking the risks I have taken.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a licensed esthetician with over three years of experience. After a brief time in the medical field and in the retail industry, I knew that in my heart, I belonged in the beauty industry. I freelanced as a makeup artist for small events and photoshoots, as my real passion for beauty started with cosmetics when I was a pre-teen. During that time, I struggled with severe acne and started really doing my own in depth research to help heal my problematic skin, and that is when I fell in love with skincare. In 2018, I decided to enroll in Esthetics school and graduated that same year. With my knowledge, I was able to rid myself of the acne I dealt with entirely and wanted to share that with everyone and anyone, so they could feel the confidence and relief I felt when I healed my skin. Within all that time, I found a deep passion for eyebrow design and have been specializing in creating beautiful eyebrows since becoming licensed.

I have learned a lot along the way in regards to how to really listen to and understand others’ needs, not just do what I believe is best for them. I have also learned that being a genuine and honest person will get you a lot farther in life, because people can and will always notice and catch on to who is real and who isn’t, and you can really ruin your business pretending to be someone you’re not. I feel like I have had a lot of success professionally because of how open and genuine I am about my life, myself, my insecurities, and my knowledge in my trade. I connect with my clients on a more personal level and our times spent in my chair getting beauty services goes deeper than just enhancing their outer beauty. Thats all I ever wanted when becoming an esthetician, giving people a space to not only feel beautiful on the outside, but to teach them and help them understand they can harness the beauty inside of them as well!

I want the world to know that there are estheticians, like myself, that offer luxury services at prices attainable for everyone, because I believe that feeling fancy or high-end is for EVERYONE and shouldn’t break the bank, ever.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am fairly new to Atlanta, and haven’t explored as much as I’d like to, but out of all of the places that I have been, I definitely frequent slutty vegan as much as I can. I am OBSESSED with their Menage A Trois burger and Seamoss Banana Pudding. Ask for their slutty fries extra crispy and a side of their blueberry mayo sauce to dip them in, you won’t regret it. I love being in little five points, it reminds me a lot of a part of Denver called South Broadway, where I grew up. The funky boutiques, cool bars, great food, tattoo shops. It’s my element for sure!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am dedicating this shoutout to every single one of my clients that I have ever had. When I have wanted to try a new technique or service or have needed to practice my skills more before offering a new service on my menu, I have never had a client tell me no or refuse to help me grow and learn. I genuinely believe that I wouldn’t be where I am in my career without all of my clients who have supported and have trusted me with their skin, eyelashes and eyebrows. I also want to give shoutout to my mother, Catalina and my closest friends, Angie, Camille, Daisy and Jill. We have become a tribe full of perseverance and strength and when we all get together, the room is full of empowerment and inspiration. These women have given me the mindset to aim for the things that seem hard to achieve with confidence. Incredible things have happened in my life and career because of their advice and support, so I am giving them a special shout out!
