We had the good fortune of connecting with Edward Clyde and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Edward, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Well, it helps to understand the events leading up to starting my first business. My first job out of school was for an environment engineering firm, a job I loved very much. Shortly after starting, the owner ended up having family issues in California, and spent less and less time in the business, and as a result, gave me more and more business responsibilities. Soon I was essentially running the entire business, no longer simply doing the technical work. I sort of just seemed to fit right into the position. I knew that I wouldn’t waste this awesome experience and go work for another company… I would start my own.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Earthcore Group is a Design/Build firm located in Atlanta, Ga. We are licensed general contractors and pride ourselves on completing the most challenging and innovative projects we can find, however, we take on projects of all shapes and sizes. After all, our North Star is client satisfaction. Being so diverse in our abilities was quite the challenge.. its taken years to build our group of skilled craftsmen and professional resources so that we can confidently say that we can handle most any job that come our way. We are problem solvers and innovators, and ultimately here to help re shape the Atlanta area for the wants and needs of the people living here today. It certainly wasn’t easy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh wow! Well, first off, i’d take my friend to a beautiful outside lunch at The Daily Chew… where we could enjoy some amazing food and coffee and discuss the rest of the week. That itinerary would certainly include yoga at the High Museum, a walk around Piedmont Park with the dogs, a group run with Highland Runners Club, a tour of Fitfo Labs’ creative warehouse space, a scooter ride down the beltline to explore PCM, a night of dancing at Johnny’s Hideaway, and last but not least, an Atlanta United Soccer Game. Food would have to include Two Urban Licks, Mujo, Brack’s Kitchen, Hals, and Little Bangkok.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The entire Fitfo Group… Fitfo is a clothing brand I started, a brand with a highly motivational ethos behind it. The idea of “Fitfo” was actually inspired by my career in construction and we now have the term trademarked! Anyways, an amazing group of friends came together behind the banner. We pushed each other and learned so much and in the process formed life long friendships. Presently, most people in the group have found their own paths, but, we all have complimentary businesses and still continue to work together and collaborate to this day. Knowing those men and women are watching me helps motivate me every single day and they get my shoutout.
