We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Mike Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Mike, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind becoming an entrepreneur stemmed from a combination of personal passion, a keen eye for market opportunities, and a desire for independence. I’ve always been fascinated by innovation and the possibility of creating something new that can make a real difference. While working as an itinerant minister, I discovered that I was born to control my finances and sign my own check. In addition, I understood that I needed to create wealth in the Marketplace so that my INCOME COULD MAKE AN IMPACT in MINISTRY. As a result, I noticed several gaps in the marketplace where customer needs were not being met. This ignited a passion in me to solve these problems and provide better solutions.

I was also driven by the desire for autonomy. I wanted to have the freedom to make my own decisions and shape my work environment. Financially, I recognized the potential for profit and the opportunity to create wealth, not just for myself but also for others involved in my venture.

Moreover, the idea of making a positive impact and leaving a lasting legacy was incredibly motivating. I wanted my work to contribute something meaningful to society. Entrepreneurship also presented an ongoing journey of personal development and learning, which I find exhilarating. Facing new challenges and finding ways to overcome them keeps me engaged and constantly growing.

I drew inspiration from entrepreneurs like Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Mark Cuban and others, whose success stories showed me what’s possible. My background in ministry provided me with the necessary faith, skills, and experiences that I felt confident in leveraging. Additionally, observing current market trends and recognizing that the timing was right gave me the final push to embark on this entrepreneurial path.

Overall, becoming an entrepreneur was a decision driven by a mix of passion, opportunity, independence, and the desire to make a significant impact.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Through perseverance and a burning desire to change lives, I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree, Master of Theology Degree, and Doctorate of Theology Degree from Howard University.

Overcoming challenges required a deep reliance on faith, continuous self-improvement, and an unyielding commitment to my vision. The support of my wife, Felecia, and the lessons from my father played pivotal roles in my journey.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love, and encouragement of others. When I reflect on my journey, there are several key figures who have been instrumental in my success, and I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to them.

First and foremost, I want to honor my wife, Felecia. Her unwavering support and belief in me have been the backbone of my entrepreneurial journey. Felecia’s love, encouragement, and understanding have given me the strength to push through challenges and keep striving towards my goals. She has been my rock, my confidant, and my biggest cheerleader, and I am deeply grateful for her presence in my life.

I also want to pay tribute to my father, who taught me how to be a man and how to pray. His lessons in integrity, perseverance, and faith have been the guiding principles in my life and career. My father instilled in me the values of hard work and resilience, and his example has inspired me to navigate the entrepreneurial path with determination and purpose.

Lastly, I want to extend my gratitude to my enemies. While this may seem unconventional, the obstacles and adversities they presented have been the fuel that has driven my passion to succeed. Their challenges pushed me to prove myself and to never give up, serving as a catalyst for my growth and achievements.

Together, these influences have shaped my journey and contributed significantly to my success. I am profoundly thankful for Felecia’s love, my father’s wisdom, and even the adversities that have forged my path. Their impact on my life is immeasurable, and I am honored to recognize them in my story.
