We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Halima Sabour and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Halima, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work life balance has more to do with being able to adapt and adjust, versus always having balance between the two. Things are always shifting and changing. The ability to adapt on the fly is essential to being an entrepreneur, a successful Citizen in the world, as well being a successful mom and single parent.

When I think of balance I think more on the lines of mental and emotional intelligence. When we are able to self regulate and implement the lessons we’ve learned and have the discipline to do the things that need to be done even when we don’t feel like it is what will take you further in life regardless of what industry you’re in.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is rooted in encouraging women to heal, breathe, and fully step into who they are. While I am in the beauty industry, my work goes far beyond hair. I use beauty as a vehicle to uplift, encourage, and inspire women to recognize and embrace their natural beauty from the inside out. My motto is simple: you are never too old, too dark, too skinny, too fat, too bold, or too meek to be a Sabour Beauty woman.

What I am most proud of is creating a luxurious, high-quality experience that delivers impeccable service while honoring the whole woman. Sabour Beauty provides an oasis—a space for women in our community to unwind, be poured into, and be served in a clean, welcoming, and intentional environment. I believe beauty and wellness should coexist, and that balance is at the heart of everything I do.

Getting to where I am today required deep belief in my vision and an ongoing commitment to personal growth. The journey has not been easy. One of my greatest challenges was navigating entrepreneurship while facing personal adversity, including having a husband sentenced to twenty years in prison just three months after the birth of our daughter. What once felt unimaginable ultimately became the very thing that strengthened me.

I made the decision to become the woman my vision required. I invested in my mindset, sought mentorship, joined organizations that taught leadership and personal development, and committed myself to lifelong learning. I studied the paths of those who had already accomplished what I dreamed of and applied the lessons they shared. Through faith, resilience, and unwavering determination, I continued to move forward.

What I want the world to know about my brand is that Sabour Beauty is about transformation—from the inside out. It is about courage, healing, growth, and believing that no matter where you start, you can create a life, a business, and a legacy rooted in purpose.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If I were to give a heartfelt shout-out to someone outside of my immediate family who truly inspired, encouraged, and supported me along my journey, it would undoubtedly be Mrs. Danita Minnifield. She saw greatness in me long before I fully recognized it in myself. Through her guidance, I learned the power of my words and the importance of affirmations, but even more impactful was her teaching on seed time and harvest. That principle has been one of the greatest lessons of my life—anchoring me through seasons of perseverance, patience, and unwavering focus as I stayed the course while building my business.

I would also like to acknowledge and thank my sister, Zsa Zsa Sabour, for believing in the vision and choosing to stand beside me to build something meaningful from the ground up. Creating a legacy starting from ground zero requires faith, resilience, and courage. There is nothing more powerful than having a right hand who not only believes in the vision, but also possesses the mental fortitude and determination to keep going—even when challenges arise. Her commitment, strength, and belief have been invaluable to this journey.

And I would be remiss not to honor my other seven sisters, whose encouragement, prayers, and unwavering support have carried me through every stage of this process. Each of them has poured into me in her own way—through words of affirmation, honest conversations, strength during difficult moments, and reminders of who I am when the road felt heavy. Their collective love, belief, and sisterhood have been a constant source of fuel, grounding me and pushing me forward as I continue to build with purpose and intention.
