We had the good fortune of connecting with Dom Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dom, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Working 9-5 jobs wasn’t cutting it, I knew I wanted the feeling of true freedom. Freedom to make my own decisions and freedom to make any amount of money with out a cap. After a few network marketing conferences, extensive hours of YouTube videos, and daunting hours learning how to format a business plan I got right to it. In 2017 I picked up a camera for the first time since I was a teenager and I shot a promo video for a friend. That led to a music video which I received great feedback for. From that point I planned my whole business around getting people to pay me for making video content. I remain a student of the game and plan to always be a student. The key to starting a business is to LEARN your business in and out.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is Emperium Studios. We are a TV/Film production studio founded in Columbus, Ohio. The name “Emperium” comes from the words “Emperor” & “Imperium” representing power, prestige, and ranking at the highest regard. We have been in business for 2years, in that time we have produced a #1 Indie film on TubiTV titled “The Female Hustler” and developed a kids web series titled “A Kid Named Bug”. We are at the very beginning of our company life line and there has already been challenges we have to face. That comes with any field and I went in knowing that. Before Emperium I started a small video production company that focused on music videos and commercials. Through my journey with that company I experienced a lack of resource and minimum sales, I became frustrated and went back to the drawing board. Emperium was born. Before I fully executed I told my self to be patient, and enjoy the process. Don’t give up, and keep going.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the Downtown Area, and some of the food spot. We would probably go get some Varsity, go to the aquarium, then ride around show some monumental areas in the A, like where some films were shot.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out my mom, Tyler Perry and Bishop TD Jakes. My mother because she is forever encouraging me spiritually and reminding me to keep God first. TD Jakes sermons/books provides me faith in what I do today, and the impact that Tyler Perry has had on our culture fills me with the ultimate confidence.
