Meet Devin Tyson | Musician and Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Devin Tyson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Devin, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
The most important habit anyone can develop, in my personal opinion, is waking up early and doing a morning walk. It sets the tone for the day, it helps me with my motivation and stress relief. I also feel like journaling is important as well. Writing everything down organizes my brain!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I make beats man! In all seriousness, I took a step back from being an artist to focus on my musicianship. I currently play Piano and Bass guitar but i’m working on getting my guitar game up! I like to produce trap with a hint of lofi! I also like to mess around with some alternative style beats as well! All around, I love good music and i’m constantly progressing. As long as i’m doing that, i’m happy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spot in the city is Ponce City Market for sure! I love the roof top putt putt man! But, I would also bring them to my favorite spot in the world which is Good Word Brewing and Public House! Good Word is OTP, but it’s got an awesome vibe and the food and drinks are always on point!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shout out to three people. First, I would be nothing without the work ethic that my Mother has instilled in me. She has always been supportive of me, even when i’m wrong. I appreciate everything that she has provided for me and she has never told me that I couldn’t do something. I get my confidence from her because I was taught to be prepared for anything and I know that i’m making her proud. Secondly, I owe my big brother Barry a big shout out. He is my second pair of ears and has always seen my potential. I know that I can always have him listen to a track and he will tell me if it’s hot or not. I appreciate him because he will tell me when i’m in the wrong and be honest with me. A lot of people don’t have that luxury. He also helped me build my personal studio and gave me a space to create in peace. I owe him the world. Third, I would like to shout out my nephew Lil Vyl (Dylan). Dylan was with me when we were rapping on my sister’s front porch just messing around. I never knew that these small moments would be such an influence on him. It makes me proud to see what he has built in the 14 years that has passed since then. Even when I wasn’t confident in myself or my abilities, Dylan believed in me at my lowest times and i’ll never be able to pay that back. Apparently, i’m an OG now, and that makes me happy and proud.
